Less than 5 hours in Nassau-town and beach?

Hello!:D

We will stay less than 5 hours :( in Nassau for the first time ( we arrive at 12.30 and leave at 18.00, but we know that there are allways delays and we must be on the ship 30 minutes before it leaves the port).

 

We would like to know/see a little bit of the city, but we would love to spend some time, maybe 2 hours , in the beach (we prefer cable or Cottage beach, because the one near the port seems too little and quiet).

 

Do you think, from your experience, that we can see a part of the town in 1 hour and spend 2 hours in the beach, saving 40 minutes to the bus/cab rides?
