Has anyone ever had a bad time/experience on the Carnival Triumph? AND WHY? I will be going on the Triumph at the end of May and this will be my first cruise.

We had a great time on the Triumph, Don't go looking for negatives and just go and have fun.

A bad cruse, never heard of such a thing. This being your first cruise, you will have a great time. Actually you may think they are treating you like royalty once onboard ship.

You may have seen the Celebrity Cruise Line TV commercial, it may be a little bit exagerated, but not a lot. The jist of this commercial pertains to every cruise line that I have experienced, except maybe NCL.

You cannot imagine what a great experience you are about to have.

Just Enjoy!!

I'm with Fred on this one. We had a blast on the Triumph last year - great ship and great itinerary. You can make anything bad...if you look for it.

Just go and have fun. Be flexible and expect the unexpected just like any vacation .....

We are going on the Triumph in Oct, I have had a bad cruise but not on carnival. We went on a Royal Caribbean cruise and had some problems most of which were caused by our stateroom being right below an ice machine in one of the bars.. I guess we didn't need to sleep on that trip anyway... You should have a great time!

This was probably the best of 3 cruises we have taken. None were bad but in my opinion this one was the best... I love this ship!! Just get involved.. you determine how much fun you have!. Enjoy!!

Simply go to the review section, I'm sure you won't have any problems finding a few bad reviews. People simply love to complain about things. Now personally my wife and I had a wonderful time on the Triumph on our Honeymoon. You are better off to go with an open mind and base the cruise off of what you think. Unless you have friend or co-workers with likes and dislikes close to yours. Then you can check with them. I don't put a lot of faith in the reviews others write a the time. If most are good with a few bad ones, I chalk it up to mostly people who love to bitch. Now if it closer to 50% are bad then they may just be on to something. Good Luck and Happy Sailing!

I have read a bad review on about half my 47 cruises. They were all lying or insane, or worse.

Simple answer is---DO NOT READ REVIEWS, CRUISE AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND, I'M TOO BUSY DOING NOTHING TO DO IT FOR YOU!!!!:p

;) Oh! I'm talking about our local animal shelter!

If the Triumph was so bad, why would I be booked on her for the second time this April? It's abit tricky finding youway around, but that's half the fun! You discover new things every day on this ship! You'll LOVE it!

I totally agree with all the pp's. You will have a wonderful time. We took our first cruise in December. Now we had everything at stake with going on this cruise. It was our first trip together in 17 years and after 6 kids we deserved a get-away. We had to purchase our airfare from Canada and that was quite expensive. We stayed in Ft. Lauderdale and booked a hotel that was crappy. But when we got on the ship we were shocked and amazed and in awe! It was the most wonderful amazing place we had ever experienced. I would suggest that you as a first timer just go and experience with no prejudices and no fear. Have a wonderful trip!

If I could lend you some advice. On our first cruise, NCL Star in Hawaii, we were having a real bad time:( . Halfway through the cruise we decided to have a good time inspite of NCL, and we did:) . Everytime they would screw up, or the service was bad, or an excursion was cancelled, or a waiter spilled something on us, or we couldn't get an answer to a question, or they gave us the run around; we would laugh:D . Constant laughter throughout the last half of the cruise kept me sane:eek: . After the cruise, we sat down and thought about what had happened. We felt that perhaps our expectations were to high and that we wanted a perfect cruise. Afterall, it was our honeymoon. We have since then lowered our expectations and realize there is no such thing as a perfect anything. Like other posters have stated; if you are looking for bad, you will find it. Look for the good and you will have one whale of a time. Keep that glass half full, don't ever let it get half empty:p . Good Luck and have a great time.

Half Moon Cay

St. Thomas

San Juan

Grand Turk

Carnival didn't list it as a shore excursion in any of these ports. But we are looking for it to do outside of booking with Carnival. I figured probably not in Half Moon Cay since it is such a small island. But what about the others, anyone ever book independently a zipline/canopy tour?

We just sailed on the Triumph about 3 weeks ago. We had a good time ONLY because we will with very good friends with us and we had fun with them. NO thanks to Carnival. I do not blame the Triumph. This ship was a lovely ship, the only problem we had with the ship was that it was hard to find decks that would go far enough from forward to stern without something stopping you.

Upon embarkation the lines for the buffet were enormous! Was it a surprise to Carnival that all these people were coming for lunch?? Perhaps they could have made arrangements for things to move faster. Perhaps they could have arranged things so that there were not traffic jams between the buffet lines and the beverage lines - duh?! Perhaps they could have NOT run out of ice AND ice tea AND lemonade for over 45 minutes. We were still tied to the pier - go to the damned 7-11 and buy ice! The buffet lines were NOT worth waiting in - the food was NOT that good. I don't wait in lines like that for anybodies food. And the food never got any better. We never ate at the buffet again. Our friends tried it a few times and said it was mediocre - at best. We ate in the dining room - which was the quality of Denny's food or one of those all-you-can eat $9.99 steak house meals. That is not was we consider "cruise ship quality" food.

For the most part the service was terrible. We were YELLED at by 4 separate crew members in the course of the week. Our dining room waiter and assistant waiter were wonderful! And one lady at the Purser's desk was very kind, but they were the only staff members that were. Most of them were cold and did not acknowledge you at all or were rude! Oh - the staff member in the Casino was very nice also.

Our stateroom - 8B- Empress deck (7), Aft cabin, the bathroom was very roomy, the cabin itself was too small and nothing to sit on but the bed. No love seat or chair.

People say they sail Carnival because it is 'cheap'. You pay for what you get. I was on this cruise because it was "business". I won't go on Carnival again - unless it HAVE to!!! For what I paid we could have been on a much better cruise line.

As far as having a good time, your cruise will be what you make it - as far as fun is concerned. As far as Carnival is concerned - I would recommend looking at other cruise lines.
