Restaurants - SPANISH STEPS - ROME

Mr. Feller, We have stayed several times at the Intercontinental in Rome (next to the Hassler Hotel). The concierge will really come into play whilst you are there inasmuch as it is Easter Weekend and Rome (city wise) will be really hectic to say the least. You will definitely need reservations. We always walk a bit (and find it nice after a meal) to a place not so close to the Spanish Steps but certainly an easy walk (using the steps to the side of the steps and not going through the throngs of folks sitting all over the steps. You could always take a cab to a recommended restaurant and then they will call one and take you back afterwards. There are a number of bistro types on the Via Venato near you and the restaurant at the Hotel de Russie is great for a more memorable dinner or lunch and is also a very short walk. Have a wonderful time! Rene'

Hi,

Staying in ROME for two nights before cruise and was wondering if anyone knew of any places to eat by the SPANISH STEPS we are staying at the INTERCONTINENTAL DE VILLE, would appreciate any answers.

Thank you

JIM and MAXINE

There is a restaurant called "La Rampa" (The Ramp) located on a smallish piazza to the right of the Spanish Steps (just past AMEX) when looking up towards the top. Fun place that was closed for vacation when we were there this past August.

You can cut through from the top by using the steps to the side of the steps and not going through the throngs of folks sitting all over.

There is a great restaurant called Nino's about 2 blocks from the Spanish Steps.

It was recommended by a friend but is also listed in Born to Shop Italy as the authors favorite restaurant in Rome.

Reservations a must. I called from here about a week before,

We had a wonderful sunset dinner at the Hassler Hotel . Pricey, but the views and convenience made it very memorable. We walked all over the area around the steps, then returned to the DeVille to change. Then we just walked next door and watched the lights of Rome come on and all the activity while dining. It is a great area to stay.
