CruiseZapper Posted March 16, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2007 we will be leaving on a cruise out of port canaveral in late april. we need a hotel on the beach. we will have our car so as long as it is witin a few hours drive is all that matters to us, we are not from fl. so we know nothing about this area. we are mainly wanting to be on the beach plus we really want a area that we don't have to worry about staying in, this is my worst fear, getting in a bad/rough area.we would also like the drive to the port to be a pretty simple drive,we are not young anymore and get lost pretty easy :) The hotel/motel doesn't have to be real fancy, just clean and save. and the closer the better, thanks,
vacationfool Posted March 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2007 We stayed at the Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach a few years ago and it was wonderful. Right on the beach- Pier and food bar. We used our entertainment card when booking and got a great deal of $88 per night. The hotel is very clean and in a safe area, it is about 20 miles from the port.
alwalaska Posted March 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2007 I can only answer one of your questions. You can stay on the beach and only be about 15 minutes from the port, not hours.:) People have different opinions of the area, so I would take advise and then compare things myself. We did not stay right on the beach when we were there in 2004, nor are we staying on the beach this year, so I can't help with recommendations there. There is another thread here titled "I work in Port Canaveral" and the OP is extremely knowledable about the area. I would post your question in that thread. She has been helping people for over a year now on the thread. Just reading through the thread is also very helpful. The thread is at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=436720 Have fun planning.
