You can purchase transfers from the cruiseline if you are flying in on the day that you leave or http://www.artsshuttle.com/
ballinafad Posted March 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2007 Are you flying in the day of the cruise or day before? We rented a car the day before and it was much cheaper than any transfers plus we had the added bonus of having a vehicle to do some shopping. It is a very easy drive (45 min) on one highway only. katiel53 Posted March 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2007 The cruiselines will offer you a shuttle, but that is kind of expensive. You can rent a car, which is probably the cheapest way to go. You could also use the site I have included to check on different companies that have transportation to the port. You can check the website and see what seems good to you. Enjoy your cruise. http://www.portcanaveral.org/portinfo/groundtrans.htm
metsfan1968 Posted March 16, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2007 Cruise line shuttles cost around $30 per person one-way when you do your own air (at least for RCCL they do). If you have 3 or more people, you can get a limo (or a nice SUV/Town Car) for about the same price (or cheaper than cruise shuttle if you have 4 or more) and your driver will meet you at the baggage claim escalator, take your bags, etc., and you leave right away in comfort and style! With the shuttle, you have to go looking for it and often have to wait before leaving. Taxi gets expensive for that length of trip. You can also rent a car at the airport and drop it off at rental location near port (most will then drop you off at port, even if they don't have a formal shuttle service). Depending on day, rental car can be as little as $30. You're much better off renting a car, using a private shuttle like Art's, or getting the limo/town car. Those are all in the link above by katiel53.
runner15km Posted March 16, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2007 But, if you drive on your own instead of taking a cruise line shuttle and something goes wrong you will be out of luck. There is some degree of safety taking the cruise line shuttle. If there is a problem with the cruise line shuttle they will hold the ship from leaving for awhile. Sometimes spending a few extra bucks is worth the peace of mind.

You may also want to consider turning your rental in while you're on the cruise and getting a different one when you get back - rather than paying for a car that will just sit there while you're gone + pay for the parking. From what I've seen, several of the rental places have shuttles or pickup/dropoff service to the port.
travgurl Posted March 19, 2007 #12 Share Posted March 19, 2007 We are traveling on the Glory in mid July. I have done research on the transport situation. I had decided on Coco Beach shuttle. They come recommended from the hotels in Cape Canaveral and are most reasonable. But, then I have called rental car companies and have found that for my size family we could just rent a car for the day for about the same price We are coming in a day early and have the rest of the day when we return until our flight goes out. I think we will rent a car.
katiel53 Posted March 19, 2007 #13 Share Posted March 19, 2007 When we parked at the terminal in November-December, the fee was $12 a day. It used to be $10. I wish they lowered it to $10 again, but somehow I doubt it. The fee of $84 is prepaid. Enjoy! Katie
