kujobie Posted March 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2007 What do you get with it? This is the first time I've gotten one. Do they give you a choice of gifts or is it a surprise? To answer the inevitable question, a 45 day letter is something you get in response to correspondence with carnival, like a complaint or compliment. I e-mailed them about my last cruise, mosly complimentary but noted that they neglected to invite us to the past guest party and, as such, we didn't get our ship pins. They sent us the pins with a note saying to call within 45 days of our next cruise, hence the name 45 day letter, and they would have a gift delivered to our cabin. Just curious as to what we will get.
gypsyrose Posted March 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2007 I chose the bar coupons. Other choices were wine, champagne, photo coupons, soda coupons. Can't recall any others right now.
kujobie Posted March 17, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Bar coupons work, that's what I would choose too, lol. How many did you get, 4?
habby Posted March 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2007 We chose bar coupons, too. Yep, four of 'em. Now we just have to find out what we can buy with them. It seems to be a crapshoot, depending where you are and when you order whatever it is you order. I usually just get the drink of the day refills all week. Guess we'll make friends with one of the bartenders or servers and see what happens! In addition to the above, we were given choices of chocolates, a fruit basket or room decorations. habby Posted March 17, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 17, 2007 quick question, Where exactly did you E-mail your letter to ? Thanks !! Or, if the letter is going to be lengthy (I think the website only allows 1000 characters), send it snail mail. piscesbaby Posted March 17, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Do you really get a gift for being a past guest?Sign me up.
kujobie Posted March 17, 2007 Author #10 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Do you really get a gift for being a past guest?Sign me up. Yep. After you get back from your Victory cruise, write a letter or e-mail telling them about it and you "should" get a gift letter for your next cruise.. I can't say that it's a guarantee, but this was the first time I wrote them and I got one.
MamaParrotHead Posted March 17, 2007 #11 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Just because you write to them doesn't really guarantee you squat. LOL :D It seems to be pretty random. Go for it, but don't count on anything.

I can't say that it's a guarantee, but this was the first time I wrote them and I got one. I sent a comment to Carnival off of their website. Thanks for the suggestion.I basically let them know that I appreciate the rates they give service members and that is why I chose to go with them again. RCL just upset me every time I asked about it.I would always hear "We are not offering a military discount for that sailing".C'mon for every single one? I think I will stay loyal to Carnival. cruisin_fanatic Posted March 18, 2007 #13 Share Posted March 18, 2007 You can also send your complimentary or complaint letter directly to the guest relations dept at grrelations@carnival.com
Nyiles Posted March 18, 2007 #14 Share Posted March 18, 2007 I basically let them know that I appreciate the rates they give service members and that is why I chose to go with them again. Same here...my military discount is better then the past guest discount. Also if you are already a member of the Ocean Players Club, send the casino host an email letting them know when you will be on board (include your booking #). They will usually arrange to have a surprise in your cabin when you arrive. You can send an email directly from the ocean players club website. They list the casino hosts for most of the ships. tigerdadky Posted March 18, 2007 #15 Share Posted March 18, 2007 I chose the bar coupons too. My other options were bottle of wine or champange, fruit basket, chocolates, or bon voyage banners or some other special occasions. I sent a letter to carnival about my concerns of our debarktation from the Elation on its last cruise out of Galveston. If your a drinker the bar coupons are far better than the others and I'm sure cheaper for Carnival.

Hey Nyiles, I went ahead and sent an email as you suggested. I really didn't even know what to say."Uh, I'm looking forward to visiting the Casino" I did give my booking number. Hope he/she doesn't laugh when they see it and wonder why I was sending such a ridiculous message:o I usually try to stay away from the casino but I think maybe this time I might play a little. Thanks again
