So, can someone please help...?

Can I put a spending limit on my son's S & S card??

Thanks,

Carla

We put a $250 limit or so we thought on my (17) grandson's S&S card, thank goodness I checked the TV to find out were he was at because by the 3rd day(7 DAY CRUISE) his total was $251 apparently they were about to call me to put more cash down. WE TOOK THE CARD AWAY INSTEAD!

Thanks Joanne for looking up the old post fromlast year.

But i am wanting to know if recently you can do this. I would like to put cash on the kids cards and credit card on the adults. I wonder if this can be done. Someone said the kids cash cards would still be backed by the credit card 'cards' but that wouldn't solve the overspending problem.

Anyone have experience with this recently??

All responses are very appreciated.

Thanks,

Carla

Whether you can or not, won't it be better in the long run to talk with the kids about how much they can spend and then track their spending with them?

We were on the same cruise with dbrucern (hey there) and we put our niece's card on our credit card. Luckily on the Glory you can view folio accounts over the tv so we could monitor her spending and we asked her to return her receipts every day.

She is 13 and was really responsible about doing this. So responsible and limited her spending that the last couple of days she was treating us to cake and chocolate covered strawberries. :p

We were on the Miracle on 2/11/07 and we could not put a limit on our childrens S&S cards. It was all or nothing! We had charging available on their cards but told them not to unless they asked us before they charged something. They are 11 and 8 so that was not a big problem until they were told they could charge 5$ at the game room... oops, they did not know how charging works so 35$ later... oh well, its only money right!! :D

Hey Buddyjo143, enjoyed pictures posted any other cruises planned heading to the Pride in June no children or grandchildren this time although trying hard to get us to take them. Thinking about the Freedom in December.

I sailed on the Celebration last year with my 9 year old daughter. I requested that her Sail/Sign Card be blocked for use, so she could carry it around while at Camp Carnival and know her cabin number.

I came back on the first day and she was sitting at one of the bars drinking her 2nd Virgin Fu-Fu drink with a few other 9-11 year olds.

I quickly took the card away and left her with the room key only.

Just beware of what they "say" they can do with the cards.......it wasn't a big deal for me; I would've bought a few fun drinks for my daughter anyway, but it could also get out of hand quickly with kids who like to spend.

couldnt you just buy a soda card and then if you are going to let them spend $20 a day, just give them cash? why do they need the

S & S card at all ?

First time cruiser here ...so just wondering what the necessity for this would be?

I know my account would be S& S ... but I dont think that I want my kids doing heavy video games & gift shop surprise purchases , ya know?

It's "cashless" cruising--the gift shops and such don't take cash; you have to use your Sail & Sign. If I'm not mistaken the only place you can use cash is in the casino and I think the token machine in the arcade.

Everyone on the ship, no matter their age, needs a Sail and Sign card to get off and back on the ship at ports as well and it's your room key on most Carnival ships.

Cheers!

Jayne
