Crown Kids Program Question

Here's my question:

At what age do the counsolrs at the kids program allow the kids to sign themseleves out?

When we went on a Carnival Cruise 18 months ago, My daughter (who turned 11at the time) was able to sign herself out. We are on the 7-5 cruise on the Crown and wondering at what age are the children are allowed to sign themselves out. If a child is old enough to sign themselves out can the parents prohibit this.

Thanks-

We were on the Crown last summer - our daughter (8 at the time) was in the club with her 11 yr old brother and we authorized both to sign themselves in and out. Of course we had meeting times and 'off limits' areas for them, but the independence they felt really added to their enjoyment of the cruise.

My understanding was that you had a list of who could and could not sign the children out. We just went on a cruise and let the kids sign themselves out (age 10) but there was one time that we did not want them to sign themselves out so we did not authorize it for that one time. There was no problem with this.

When you go to the registration meeting, you (the parent) fill out the form including whether you are allowing your child (8 and above) to sign themself in or out. On our last cruise, we didn't allow our child to sign herself in or out but many of the older kids were given that approval.

We just got back from our Crown cruise last night. For kids in the 8 - 12 group, you are able to decide whether you want your kids to be able to sign themselves out or not. We have let our son have this priveledge for several years now.

We have cruised many times and this was the first time that our son didn't participate in the kids program. The cruise was port intensive and the kid's progam doesn't operate a normal program during the day. You need to sign up for it the day before and there is limited programing available during the day. The kids wouldn't be able to sign themselves out during the day, if you go ashore without them and leave them in the kids club for the day. There is a program that starts after dinner but he usually wanted to come to the shows with us or go to bed after dinner if we ate late. We did lots of active excursions and we were all tired and in bed most nights by 10:30. I'm not sure if he didn't like the offerings in the kids program as he will be 13 in May and perhaps the things they were doing didn't interest him or whether he preferred to go to the other entertainment on the ship. Actually, there weren't too many kids on the cruise last week, certainly a lot less than other Princess cruises we have taken on our March break.
