A couple of other thoughts:

 

Have you read the Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency and the rest of that series?

 

And I just started the Sunday Philosophers Club by the same guy.

 

I haven't been able to quite get into the Ladies Detective ones, but I've enjoyed all of the Sunday Philosophers Club books, and also the first Scotland Street one.

 

I've never been to Europe, but I just booked the 2008 British Isles/Norwegian fjords cruise and I'll get to see Glasgow, among other places. :)

voting for danialle steel, or sidney sheldon. I here Nora roberts is good, and I own several of her books but have not yet read any of them:)

 

Yes I love Danielle Steel and Sydney Sheldon too. A fab book I read recently was The Island by Victoria Hislop. Quite light but thought provoking.:)
