Sun Princess 3/10-20

We got back Tuesday from our most relaxing cruise ever.

This was our 6th Princess, 9th cruise and we were three couples total, 40s to 70s.

Ship - dh & I thought the ship was well-maintained. Other two couples thought the Sun showed more wear and tear than the Dawn.

New balcony furniture...no more plastic, and cameras on every balcony we saw.

Cabin looked identical. We did notice the staff removing and cleaning all shower heads on our deck one day.

Our steward was good, but the worst Princess steward we have ever had. He did what we asked and exactly what we asked, but never anything more. Shows how spoiled we've been that we weren't happy with a steward because he wasn't a "mind reader". For instance, I asked him for fruit and he said to fill out the paper. If we didn't fill out the paper, no fruit, no water. But, I told him the first day that I wanted extra conditioner EVERY day. Every day I got extra conditioner, but exactly 2 shampoos and 2 lotions. I asked for two extra pool towels one day, he gave me two. Took four away that night, and gave us only two the next day.

He was extremely quick and efficient at cleaning the room, however.

The aft pool was closed one day for no apparent reason - we were sunning nearby and no one ever "did" anything to it.

There was a "mechanical" noise in the stern, every so often. Many people thought it was a fog horn, but it sounded to dh and his father like something called an "unloader". Several teams of staff tried to puzzle it out, but it was still going strong even on our last day. Not an annoying noise, though.

Dining - we had traditional, late, and found the service excellent, as usual. Very attentive head waiter, Jose. The menu had been tweaked since our last Princess cruise.

Horizon Court - same as usual. Food was mostly all at a decent temperature. We had some short lines at breakfast, due to plates and silverware being handed out by the same server who was dishing out the oatmeal.

Grill - the two grillmen were terrific. They could work in the busiest place - remembered orders and were great personalities.

Pizza - every time we are on a Sun class ship we try the pizzeria. Every time we take a few bites and leave. I know many on here love the pizza, but the only pizza we've had on a ship and liked was on the Coral.

Entertainment - I went to one movie. Participated in absolutely nothing else but sunning on the deck and two wine tastings.

Casino - they had several penny machines and I had fun playing Denver Duck ;).

Ports of call - we were very pleasantly surprised. For several personal reasons, this trip we took shore excursions everywhere except St. Thomas, even though we don't normally in the Caribbean. Excellent excursions and the islands - Antigua, St. Lucia, Grenada, Martinique - that we hadn't ever been to before we all stunning and all worth a return visit on land. Although we probably wouldn't do a land on Martinique as we don't speak French.

All but one of the excursions involved a tour and then a beach. The water in St. Lucia and Grenada were our favorites. The people in Grenada were especially friendly and every one said "Come back for longer".

The two sea days in a row up front were great, but having 5 port days in a row was a little tiring and only on Antigua did every member of our group get off the ship. We were down to 3 of us in St. Thomas and none of us tendered to Princess Cays.

We all had a fantastic and relaxing time and can't wait for our next cruise.

I just want to go on record saying that we (2 couples) sailed the Sun 2-28 thru 3-10 and it was wonderful! That's my whole review. Every minute of every day was wonderful....well, there was one chair hog that ticked me off, but otherwise darn near perfection!
