On your own snorkeling?

Hi,

We will be in Belize next week on the Grand Princess and I was wondering if there is the ability to go snorkeling without a tour, perhaps close to the cruise port. We will be traveling with my in-laws and it would be better for us to try to go on our own. Any advice?

Thanks,

Mike

I believe if you take the ferry to Caye Caulker you can snorkel from the shore there. There isn't any snorkeling from shore around Belize City. The beauty of this country is in the inland jungles and rivers and in the beautiful barrier reef that lies off shore from the mainland. Go to the cayes. You can find lots of people who will take you to Rendevous Caye, Goff's Caye or Caye Caulker which all have good snorkeling. Don't go into Belize City, it's not the best part of Belize and there isn't any snorkeling along it's shores.
