kywildcatfanone Posted March 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2007 Hi, We will be in Cozumel next week on the Grand Princess and I was wondering if there is the ability to go snorkeling without a tour, perhaps close to the cruise port. We will be traveling with my in-laws and it would be better for us to try to go on our own. Any advice? Thanks, Mike
FishermanJim Posted March 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2007 Dzul-Ha was the all-time favorite before Wilma's visit; extensively damaged but the reef is in recovery and every week shows great improvement. Fish have returned which means the reef is alive and producing foodstuff for them. Much of the color is not back. Sand Dollar Sports has a bar/beach called Sunset Beach located between the International pier south of town and the Punta Langosta Pier in town, very clost to both. I've not snorkeled there, but they do snuba tours and other snorkeling there. You can feel free to do that on your own, they don't own the water and would be appreciative if you drink your beer of have some snacks at their bar/restaurant. It's larger than it looks from the boulevard, much of it is located at beach level. Playa Azul a the north has comeback well, but its not close to the cruise terminals, but it is a very comfortable beach favored on weekends by the locals.
