Mshusky Posted March 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2007 I am sailing April 21 and I'm on the Plaza Deck at the bottom of the boat. Anyone have any experience with motion sickness on this deck?
bethcollins Posted March 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2007 We were on Plaza deck last year on the Star. I felt very little movement of the ship, and found the location convenient and, more importantly, quiet. I think you'll enjoy it.
hugger Posted March 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2007 ride in the lower portion of the ship - especially if you are mid ship. This is the BEST place to be if you are concerned about motion sickness. Really, with the design of the ships today it's not that much a concern. charlsee Posted March 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2007 My elderly parents had an oceanview cabin on the Plaza deck on the Star last October and really liked the cabin and the location-very quiet and convenient.
kendon Posted March 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2007 Believe it or not, it's my favorite deck! You'll be just fine.
NorcalGuy Posted March 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 29, 2007 Provided your cabin is not in the extreme forward, it is probably the best deck as far a motion is concerned. It is my understanding that, all other things being equal, lower is better. It is also my favorite deck as it has so much less foot traffic, but is so close to the atrium. Mshusky Posted March 29, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted March 29, 2007 Thanks to all ...our room happens to be mid to front of the ship
Rare KKB Posted March 29, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 29, 2007 VERY convenient...right by the doorway to art display, around the corner to the atrium! VERY little movement...not even w/ moderate waves. Had 7-15 ft. waves one day. Cabin was nice place to be!
RIGirl Posted March 30, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 30, 2007 We loved the Plaza deck. Prior to cruising, we were a little concerned because there was never much mention about the Plaza deck. We were SO glad our room was there. There's hardly any foot traffic at all in front of your room, you walk through the art gallery to get to your room, it's just down the stairs from the Princess theater, right near the Atrium and on the same level as the Capri dining room which is far less crowded than the other anytime dining room. We're looking another cruise now and I'm trying to get the lower deck on that cruise as well. The downside is there are no balconies on this level. We travel with a group of friends so for us, we prefer oceanview to balcony rooms. Hope this helps some!
