I'll try to cover as much as possible,so here we go

EMBARKATION:

We were told not to arrive till 7pm but we came in at 5pm instead. Thankfully we avoided a ton of traffic. Porters took our bags and directed us to another pier where we were to check in with Carnival staff. Took no more than five minutes and we were given a group number to use to board with later on. Numbers started at 26,we had 38. We then waited in the terminal and watched as the Legend pulled in to dock. Took a walk down to see how the passengers were that were getting off and to find out how the sick passenger made out. Glad to hear that the reports were good on his condition. We got called around 9:30 and proceeded to the pier. here we went thru screening and picked up our sign and sail cards. We boarded within minutes, dumped our bags, and headed up to the Lido deck to eat. Not to bad,but progressively got more crowded. I was pleasantly surprised that many people were not screaming at this point. We took a walk around the upper decks and then headed in for the night. I was disappointed in not seeing the city at night, but I got over it. I'm only an hour away anyway.

DINING:

We had main seating and ABSOLUTELY loved our asst waiter Meriam from Botswana. She was wonderful and just as much with my nephew. Our waiter was very nice but she just stood out. The food was wonderful every night. I am a very picky eater and enjoyed all my meals. Especially the desserts. I heard some people complain but everybody has different tastes. As for the Supper Club, I didn't go but our friends went and they raved about it! Maybe next time. I thought the Lido food was good. Liked that there was so many different things to choose from. Didn't expect that.

ENTERTAINMENT:

There is tons to do on board. I only saw two evening shows and both were fantastic. There is always something going on in the Follies Lounge or the Lido Deck. Don't miss the Talent show like we did. The staff does a skit thats been around for years but it was hysterical. It replayed on the tv like 200 times.

PORTS OF CALL:

Well as we all know by now we lost 3 hours in Puerto Rico. I could of lost the entire port and did 2 days at St Thomas. I felt there was not much to do but we did find Senor Frogs. Had a couple drinks there and headed back to the ship.

St Thomas is just beautiful. Should of just taken a taxi to Megan's Bay but did the Carnival excursion instead. A note to the queasy, don't take this tour if you get car sick. The ride to Paradise Point was several twists and turns. But the scenery was well worth it. Including the Bushwacker. Right Lisalynn?

In Tortola we did the Dolphin swim. I had fun and am glad I did it. I researched this and was in contact with the facility, and unfortunately the swim was not everything I thought it would be.Still had a blast though. Went back to the ship went to the pool. There is really no town to go shopping in like St Thomas. I guess you could say I did enough shopping in St Thomas.

CASINO:

We played mainly the slots and roulette. My dad did real well and really enjoyed the tables and the tournaments. Saw alot of people hit on the slots but never for us. Did okay on the roulette table. Can't complain

CABIN:

We were in cabin 8169 and was a good size for 3 people. Took full advantage of the balcony. Our cabin steward never introduced himself but the room was clean so no problems there

Overall I truly enjoyed my trip. The Legend is a beautiful ship, but haven't figured out the deal with the urns. I decided that I would start my vacation on a happy note and what happened was out of our hands. So long as the sick man was okay that was all that mattered. It could of been any one of us. SEVERAL people were at the Purser's desk screaming, and several took all there tips off, which was just wrong. These people work long and hard.

My one true negative comment goes to the photo staff. Pushy and rude is being too nice. One actaully accused me of stealing something when I realized they made a mistake on a charge. My fault for not checking it more carefully. It was resolved but overall not a nice group of people.

Loved my trip, loved my company, and would sail again. Any questions ask away. My eyes are blurry and the desk is rocking.Gotta go

thanks for the great review,

My sister and I are going to be on the Legend Sept 28, 04 and are a little concerned we will be right in the middle of Hurricane season...how was the movement of the ship and did you experience any bad weather?

thanks,

Joanne :)

Hi Cami

I was on the Legend for the July 18 sailing with the sick passenger. I have posted my trip report about it too. I too had a great time. I am hearing rumors now that we had 100 ft waves. Let me put it to rest. We did not have 100 ft waves..thats ridiculous. We did list to one side for about 1 or 2 seconds,,thats it. It was not severe but it was out of the ordinary.

Im glad to hear you had a great time..Its all about your attitude and obviously you have a great one! We have to make the best of situations that are out of our hands. I feel bad for the employees that got their tips taken away..it was not their fault. My room steward never brought my SO the ashtray he requested several times, but we did not remove any of his tip for that. We found out it was his first time on Carnival Legend and he was, to my opinion, a bit overwhelmed. So we just let it go.

Thanks for you report!

Hi Joanne-The ship was moving at about 22-23 knots down with 18 mile an hour winds. I popped a dramamine everyday and was fine. Saw some sick people. The ship was moving. Coming home same speed but 8 mile an hour winds. HUGE difference. My father swears there were some thunderstorms at night. I thought it was chairs moving on the Lido deck. When my head hit the pillow that was it for me.

Okay Cappy, they gave us all a $20 credit on our sail&sign. They told us that from the start. Nothing else was offered or given. We thought maybe a free drink but no. I honestly didn't think they would offer anything else.

Hi Ariel,

When I read your post again, I realize that you had a great time, no matter what the situation.....I appreciate your post, filling me in on the movement of the ship....I will make sure we bring some dramamine....and if we have to deal with more that normal movement, we will. but when I think of your cruise and all the things that you endured and in spite of it maintained such a positive attitue, it makes me feel guilty worrying about a little hurricane...lol

I won't worry about it, ....thanks again!

Joanne :)

Joanne,

Don't worry about hurricanes. If there is one nearby they will alter your route and sail around it. We sailed during Hurricane George a few years back. We left port early because it was going to be closed and instead of hitting St. Thomas first we went south to Barbados and worked our way up. I think we may have missed one stop along the way but it was better than going through bad weather! We didn't even have rough seas. Everyone at home thought we'd be miserable the entire week..even called our travel agent about it! We were just fine. Carnival isn't going to put anyone's lives in danger and they know how to ride out the storms!

Dont be to sure of hurricane season being not to bad. Last year we sailed on the Legend in September and the hole month was bad and I mean bad. During the hole months the Legend was not able to complete its cruise from nyc like normal. It sailed on Sept 2 and was not able to make it to Tortola and it rained in both St thomas and Puerto Rico and it rainned on the first sea day back to nyc. Then on the Sept 10th cruise which we were on the cruise changed completely. We ended going to Key West Nassau and Freeport. We had no sunny days on any sea days. No one liked the cruise because no one was prepared for the ports. Then on the 18th they missed Puerto Rico and and got late in St Thomas + they had bad weather on the way down.

Then on the 26th they got late in Puerto Rico and had bad weather on the way down. So I do think its bad. Thats why its much cheaper then like July or Early August. That why this year we went on the Legend in July. Much more $$$ but beautiful weather. A prefect cruise.
