Are you actually citing ***** as a valid source? I know that the hybrid cruiseship would be a great thing to have some day, but unfortunately, there is no such thing as any "Ibrido" or hybrid cruiseliner. The website ***** is kinda like the weekly world news, only not funny. The author just makes up stories as he sees fit. Check out his "about" page.

Hopefully one day we really will see a more fuel-efficient cruiseline industry.

All electric drive cruise ships are already hybrid to a degree. When the captain slows the ship down the propeller turns the prolulsulsion motors as generators and the produced power is used to feed back into the hotel load lowering the load on the prime movers , How do I know this. I designed the systems for 14 years!

Unfortunately they only slow down when entering port so unlike a car recovering energy as you go down a hill is not an option. Once in port the # of running engine is minimised to meeet the required hotel load only.
