NCL and NCL America are two different companies with similar names.

NCL is an International Cruise Line based in Miami Florida. NCL ships employ International Crew, have International Flags, and sail worldwide.

NCL America is an American Cruise Line based in Honolulu Hawaii. NCL America ships (currently one), employ American Crew only, have American Flags, and sail in US Waters only.

NCL`s International Flags require (by US Law)that their ships cannot stay in US Waters for very long without calling at a Foreign Port.

NCL America`s US Flag allows their ships to stay indefinitely in US Waters without calling at a Foreign Port.

NCL is the parent company. NCL America is a subsidiary of NCL.

Just as Carnival is the parent; Costa is a subsidiary of Carnival.

Most often, the parent company and the subsidiary offer a very different style and quality of product. The cruising public should be aware of this before choosing a cruise vacation.
