Snorkelling in the Medditeranian?

I am thinking about a Med. cruise in a year or two but I love to snorkel. I almost lived in the water on our recent Tahiti cruise this past November. :cool:

 

Are there any good places to snorkel in the Medditeranian? I am looking for suggestions & then see about picking a cruise that maybe works one or two of these ports in.

 

Any suggestions from someone who has experience in the region would be appreciated. The more detail that you can pass on the better.

I lived on the Greek island of Crete, and crewed a yacht which travelled throughout the Greek Islands and the Turkish coast. The snorkeling was fantastic. The water is clear, away from large cities, with dropoffs along the rocky coasts. Don't expect coral, but there is plenty of sealife on the rocky reefs. ;)

Is there any other areas that are good for snorkelling? Again, I would like to see about planning a cruise around one of these recommended ports.

 

In all honesty I know absolutelly nothing about snorkelling in the Med.
