? about cell service before the ship leaves the homeport?

Hi folks,

 

Does anyone know if I would be charged the Carnival price of 2.99 per minute, if I used my cell phone on the Miracle out of NY on the first day before the ship sails? I remember using it on the Legend last Oct and wasn't charged from Carnival but I think that might have been before they put in cell service fleetwide.

You only get charged Carnival's service rate if you are out to sea or the port does not have towers.

I used my phone on the ship in Tampa, Cozumel, Belize, and Costa Maya and the only place I got the ship charge was Costa Maya.

Ohh that's good to know. Would hate to make the calls and then get my bill with hundreds of dollars charged on it. :eek:
