Question regarding kids club

We will be going on our first cruise in August on the Liberty of the seas. My son will be almost 13. I know there are activities for him at night. I was wondering if on other cruises the counselors walk the kids back to their cabins or if the parents need to pick them up. I wouldn't feel comfortable letting him walk around by himself late at night. Are there phones around so that he can call back to the room?

I have seen that one some cruiselines the counselors *can* walk them back to the rooms but I don't think RCCL is one of them.

The best way to do it is to give him a walkie talkie so he can be in constant communication with you. When he wants you to meet him somewhere (like at the teen club) then he can use that.

OR, you could go over the evening's activities together and decide what time and where to meet him.

It's much easier with younger children cause they give pagers. But not for that age group.

Hope this helps

Hey Michelle-

Do all RCCL ships give out pagers and to what age groups do they give them out to? We'll be sailing Splendour. I loved Disney's system of the pagers, and I did not realize that RCCL did this as well. Thanks so much- I have learned tons from your posts!!!

RCCI gives out pagers only at the very young group.

RCCI counselors do not escort kids to their cabins. They indicated that the child could call the room for someone to come get them if they wished, but that assumes that you will be in your cabin.

I've seen some families use good quality walkie-talkies with success to do what you want to do. Do research walkie talkies before you buy because of the amount of structural steel on a ship, not all will work.
