BottledRed Posted April 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2007 Looking for some advice! Has anyone done the Bacab Park and Butterfly House excursion through Carnival (or other comparable cruiseline)? DH and I are looking for some pretty scenery, and love zoos, etc in particular. DH doesn't like beaches or watersports too much so I don't want to include swimming every day of the cruise, either. A description of what this tour is really like would help me tons, thanks! :o
adamsmom Posted April 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2007 We just got back from Belize on the NCL Dream, and we took this tour with our 2 kids. The resort has a huge, gorgeous pool with a waterfall and waterslide, including a kiddie pool section. There is a bar nearby, and they include a delicious buffet lunch. The butterflies are neat to see, but I wouldn't go to the trouble of taking the tour to see butterflies. The butterfly farm is not very big, but they do have some beautiful ones. So if you're looking for a zoo, this wouldn't be the tour you would want, unless you are particularly interested in the native butterflies. If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax and swim and have lunch, Bacab is great. I'll post a few pics after I get them uploaded.
BottledRed Posted April 3, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted April 3, 2007 Thanks!!! Just hearing about the pretty pool and waterslide have me intrigued and I look forward to seeing the pictures - is there a place to lock up valuables at the pool? adamsmom Posted August 5, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2007 Yes--they have free lockers right next to the bathrooms near the pool. Here's their website with lots of great pics: http://www.bacabecopark.com/
cruzinmom Posted August 5, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2007 Thanks for the pictures. This place looks nice. Did you book with the cruiseline directly? I thought the biking would be fun. Do you book the individual activities when you arrive at the park? Thanks, Sharon
adamsmom Posted August 5, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2007 We booked the Bacab Jungle Resort tour on the ship. The bicycling might be better if you booked it straight with Bacab. You should e-mail them to see.
NJCruiser23 Posted January 6, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2008 Adamsmom, Can you tell me what kind of food they have at the buffet? My kids are kind of picky. Thanks. Did you by chance do the kayak excursion there? We were thinking of doing that also. Thanks. Bon:D
adamsmom Posted January 7, 2008 #8 Share Posted January 7, 2008 No, we didn't do the kayak excursion there. I wasn't aware that there was one. We just hung around the pool all day. On the buffet, they had barbecue chicken wings (not hot), rice and beans, several kinds of fruit, and a few other things I can't remember. My kids are picky too, and they found plenty to eat.
