Swim with the Turtles & Harrison's Cave in the same day??

This is our first cruise to Barbados & we'd love to swim with the turtles, but we definitely want to see Harrison's Cave. We were thinking of taking the bus to Harrison's Cave because the cab would be $70 round trip (according to the Harrison's Cave info when I phoned). It looks like the turtle excursion takes most of the day. Any suggestions on how to do both?? Or if we have to choose, which one is better?

By the way, Harrison's Cave was closed for renovation but they are open temporarily when we are going on May 1st!!

Unless you have 8-10 free hours, I wouldn’t try to do both using the bus to the Caves.

The Route #4 bus leaves Princess Alice terminal in B-town every hour on the ½ hour. It is a good hike from the dock, or a buck ZR ride there.

I would budget 45-60 minutes to get to the caves, and the same back + queue-time at the caves and one hour, or so, for the tour. Budget a possible missed return bus and you can add another hour.

If you docked at 8AM, taxied there first and taxied back, you’d be back before noon, have lunch and an afternoon turtle outing. Easy deal, but expensive, yes?

Which to do? I’d be inclined to just stick with the turtle encounter and save the caves for another day. I believe that most people having done both would prefer the turtle encounter. If you’re young and a good swimmer, one can swim from shore to see the turtles, but I don’t recommend it. You could also just bus up the west coast and hire a small boat to take you out for a ½ hour turtle swim. Maybe US$25/ea, or so.

……You have to save something for next time; we want you to come back and experience all that Barbados has to offer. :)

BEST! -b-

Hi, Most people do it in the same day! Suggest you call Ruschelle, an excellent taxi driver who did it for us. Just call her at 246 231 1489. She made the arrangements. The secret is to leave the ship to get an early start.

She booked with a glass bottom boat at Folkestone Marine Park to swim with the turtles, and had everything arranged superbly.Enjoy Barbados.

I would check with Sarah at Glory Tours to see if the Best of Barbados tour is back to including the Caves while they are temporarily open. We did this tour and it was AWESOME!!! You'll also get to go to the Wildlife Preserve, Glass Bottom Boat, Snorkeling the Shipwreck, and Swimming with Turtles- as well as a great lunch at the Sand Dunes.

It's an all day event and the price is outstanding!
