Dive knife and crusing

I've never had a problem bringing one in checked luggage, but after 1st dive, it gets confiscated when re boarding the ship. Then it becomes a hassle retreiving it from pursers desk. This cruise, I think I am going to leave it at home, but worry about getting tangled in fishing line. What do you do?

The chances of getting tangled in fishing line in the Caribbean is small enough to be insignificant. I leave my knife at home and have never needed it for cutting in the Caribbean. I agree with wnctarheel, if you really think you need something for cutting, shears are the best choice, better than a knife anyway.
