Anyone have luck getting a free upgrade on Star

We will be on the Star to Alaska on August 11 out of Seattle. We will be flying into Seattle the day before so will have the ability to be on the dock for check-in early. Is it worth trying to get an upgrade from an Oceanview to a balcony? Any tips or is it not a possiblility.

NCL does a lot of upgrading for those who booked gurantee. On the other hand NCL does some upsells to sell out the ORPHAN cabins, while attempting to sell your previous cabin to someone else at full price, especially if there is a waiting list.

 

The NCL upgrade and upsell staff is small. Please do not call them, they prefer to call you.

You could try but with the popularity of Alaska cruises during the summer (IE: Ship will probably be sold out) I think your chances are slim, especially for a free upgrade.
