newmexicoNita Posted April 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2007 ellen, You may want to go to the hotel thread to get better ideas. What is good depends on what you are looking for and when you are going. Last time we stayed at the Holiday Inn acroos from the Bay Market. It was great walking around the market place the night before sailing and from the rooms on the higher floors you could see the cruise ships. That was the positive: the negative, the service was awful, no one was friendly except on waitress in the restaurant and the pool area left a whole lot to be desired. All in all we probably wouldn't stay there again, but many people swear by the place and we did get a good rate. If you are cruising from now until the week prior to Christmas the rates should be pretty good regardless of where you stay; Dec 20th to mid April is high season with rates that will blow your mind. We normallly stay near the airport as all the major chains have free shuttle from the airport. No one, that I know of will offer shuttle service to the ship whether you stay near the airport or the pier. I guess our favorite place is the Embassy Suites at the airport. The rooms are nice, the service good and they have a nightly cocktail hour plus a full breakfast each morning. NMnita
knb0628 Posted April 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2007 We stayed in the Miami Airport hotel, which was nice because we only had to pay for one cab ride and when we got in (which was around 11pm) we were able to go straight to the hotel. 98Charlie Posted April 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2007 We like to stay at the Fairfield Inn, 1201 LeJeune Road. Hotel has free shuttle service from the airport and has shuttle service to the port for a nominal fee. Catch of the Day restaurant is 1 1/2 blocks away and is a terrific place to eat. Will be there in less thana 2 weeks and can't wait gto to eat there again. Dianne
