Destiny questions (upper 6373)

Hi, I'm new to Carnival and am wondering about cabin 6373. I've looked through the forums but haven't come across very much about the Destiny. There is a current thread about a category 11 wraparound on the Pride. There is a very nice picture, but I don't have any idea how the category 11 or the Pride compares to this.

In the brochure Destiny is on it's own page..........does it have sister ships? Is it considered Spirit Class, or Fantasy Class, or any of that?

Thanks for your help!

Sherry

Hi Sherry! I'll try to help you out here. Although I'm new to cruising, I've been researching every nook and cranny about the Destiny before our Destiny cruise in December.

Cabin 6373 is not an aft wrap. Aft cabins are on the back of the ship (stern). 6373 is right on the bow of the ship (front). If you are prone to motion sickness, booking on the bow is usually not a good idea! :) Since I've never cruised before (my fiance is a former Marine and has been on ships before) I don't know how I'll react to the motion. We booked 6393 on the same deck, but midship. Midship is the best place to book in relation to motion, and the lower the better.

Here's a link to Destiny's deck plans:

http://www.carnival.com/Deck_Plan.aspx?shipCode=DE

If you stay on the Carnival website and go to "Fun Ships" and click on Destiny, you'll find a lot of information.

Destiny is a Destiny class ship. Sounds funny, doesn't it? lol The Destiny class used to include the Triumph and Victory but now they have a class of their own, Triumph class.

Here's a link to the "classifications" of all the Carnival ships. You can also do a virtual tour here.

http://www.cruisedeals.com/carnival_cruiseship_tours.asp

When are you planning on cruising? After you book, hop over to the Roll Call board and see if anyone is sailing along with you.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I'll try to help! :)

Not true - you are the one that is miststaken. 6373 is most definately a wrap aft! The deck plans that you attached will confirm that - .

It is a 9A wrap aft. I have this cabin booked for our Destiny cruise 3/08, along with 6344 for my DS and his girlfriend. It is my understanding that it is one of the few wrap afts that has a sofa ;) but there is no fridge. I have not been lucky enough to find any pictures yet - but I'm still looking.

But let's set things straight here.....6373 is a 9A wrap balconcy aft cabin on the Destiny. I do not think you can compare it to the Cat. 11 wraps balcony on the Pride - although I am sure there are similarities.

You are correct 6373 is a wrap aft cabin. we also have it booked for March of 2008. Happy cruizin when are you going to be in it. We have considered switching from 6373 to7325 but many tell me because we are only 2 people we could bebumped out of it because it can hold 3 people so I think we may just stay put in 6373.

We sail 3/2/08 :D We will take good care of it for you ;)

Carnival would not let us book any of the cabins for 3 - even with the understanding that we could be bumped. They kept saying they could not book it because of the "occupancy restriction".

Typically we have had regular aft cabins - with the extended balcony - just under the Lido deck. Sometimes it is the Vererdah and sometimes it is the Panorama - depending on the ship. We love that location and those cabins - but decided to try a 9A.

I really wanted the wrap balcony and the sofa. I do not think that one chair and a table would be enough seating. If DH and I are both in the cabin then someone has to sit one the bed. So I worked with our CVS to find one with a sofa and the ones on the Upper deck are the only ones that list a sofa in the description. I'm still on the look out for some photos just to get an idea of the room layout.

Now I'm just worried that we will be hooked on the 9A's and that could be dangerous  !

My PVP from carnival said she could get that occupancy restriction lifted for us but I don't want to be bumbed. I think I will call her and stay where we are. I can live without the refrig, however the sofa will be nice to have. We have a regular aft booked for our may cruise on the Liberty. Now with the 9a in March I think we will really be hooked on the wrap arounds and this could become very dangerous!!!! I can't wait for you to come back and show us some pictures... I am going to search today for some pics if I find any I will let you know.

Hi Sherry! Welcome to the best ship and itinerary around :) :)

The Destiny is the first in class of the mega ships and has 2 sister ships- Victory and Triumph (extremely similar).

Here's the thread that holds a wealth of information on her and even through all the intinerary changes:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=44544&highlight=Destiny+Cruisers

Here's a link to the Ports of Call sections of this board that will help you book fantastic excursions at much cheaper prices with recommended tour operators and Hotels in San Juan if you're staying pre/post cruise as well:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5

Lots of folks also have reviews and pictures in their signature links that post of those threads, so feel free to check them out.

Have a great time planning!!

I found this (below) in an old Destiny thread. It looks pretty cool! I did search yesterday but didn't have any luck. Thanks for your help and comments!! I'm off to read more - perhaps on excursions!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

When I was trying to check our room 6373 I was told that 8333 was two levels above us and we had the same basic room type.

I was sent this link of what 8333 looks like...pre-dry dock renovation but this should give you an idea. It helped me.

My most humble apologies and a big thank you. :o :o For some reason, I was thinking that the bottom of the deck plan was the bow like it is shown on another site I use to look at deck plans. Thank you for the correction.

Thanks for sharing what you have found :D !

It is my understanding that each of the 9A's are slightly different in their layout - depending which deck they are on. But these photos are the most helpful that I have seen yet.

When are you cruising the Destiny? If it is after mine I will try to bring back - and post - some good pictures of 6373.

Thanks again!

No problem at all. I just read your post and then began to question my booking  . So I got out all of my papers and diagrams to check and recheck. All is well....I just scared myself :o !! LOL ;)

Well, we fiddled around long enough the 9A wasn't available any longer. We've been trying to decide on a June vacation since about February! We're without kids for a week so we decided we'd take advantage of that! We've been considering Hawaii, Sun Princess to Alaska, a cabin in Colorado and the Destiny! Also the wine country and Lake Tahoe were in the running for a bit too. Quite a variety, I know! So many vacations, so little money! It shouldn't be this hard:D Anyway, we are booked on the Destiny in an aft balcony. This is our first cruise with Carnival, second time we've had a balcony - first aft though, and first time on the southern route.

I'll have to start reading and reading and reading!

My husband & I spent our 25th anniversary in this cabin in late July 2004. I think you will be pleased. We loved it!! We had booked a balcony guarantee & got upgraded to this 9A cabin. I have a few pix, & will try to share.

We loved the aft cabin/balcony, although do consider that others are overhanging your balcony.....they do not have a complete view, but we did find a bit of debris from the upper balconies occassionally.

This cabin shares a little seperate entrance with another cabin, you actually have 2 doors to the main hallway in other words.

We definitely had the most sense of movement on this cruise over all others, but not enough to be unpleasant. In fact, I think the worst of it was leaving Aruba (which I see they have replaced).

If I can answer any other questions please fee free to contact me. I love discussing travel plans.

I think the Destiny has one of the best Carnival schedules & hope to go again.

Also we did a 2 nite post cruise stay, which I would recommend. We stayed at the Condido Plaza in PR. The hotel was OK. The views from it were beautiful, the beach awful, pool pretty. It was within walking dstance from several casinos. We were flying back to Ohio, so it was a nice relaxing break afterwards. I would probably look at other hotels if we return.

I would be happy to share some info regarding the indiviual ports if that would help. Catch me at havi81999@AIM.com.

We will be sailing on the Destiny in June and have cabin 8322 (9A). I cannot find any information on this cabin. I am a little concerned because we are a family of four and I am not sure about the bed situation. I called Carnival and they assured me that we will all fit comfortably in the cabin. Has anyone stayed in this cabin or have any information?

Thanks,

Susan

Hi! I did try to email you but when I click on it I get taken to some gmail page and I haven't been able to figure out what to do from there. That has happened to me with other emails once in awhile. DH doesn't know what to do and DS17 says he doesn't know but I think he just doesn't want to help me:D Anyway, I would love any port info you have. It sounds like you already know the itinerary changed - we go to St. Thomas, Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Domenica......not necessarily in that order! I have made it to a couple of the ports of call threads, but not all yet. I've got a few ideas to check on. I also haven't gotten over to the roll call thread yet.

As for the cabin - we took too long and the 9A's were gone. I was able to confirm an aft balcony though.

Thanks,

Sherry
