TinLemon Posted August 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2004 With my cruise just 1 month away I'm going to be diligent about trying to catch a price reduction on our boat, especially since we are sailing on 9/11 and it is a ghost ship as of now. I know this is probably asked often, but where should I look to see if the prices have gone down? Do I just watch celebrity.com, or are there other resources? Thanks! cruisintwinsmom Posted August 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2004 I've always monitored celebrity.com, and monitored it often. I have seen the price of my cabin change twice within a day--down then back up. Happy Sailing!
Karen Carney Posted August 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2004 My TA automatically checks this for me. Last year I received a $300 rebate.
SCRUFFYCRUISER Posted September 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2004 TinLemon: Did Celebrity come through with the price adjustment for you? Just wondering, because our cruise is 3 weeks away and I just saw the price drop today, by about $250 on our cabin. I sent an e-mail to the agency we booked with requesting the adjustment. Is it up to the TA or the cruise line? Hope you had a great cruise in spite of the bad weather that week!
TinLemon Posted September 30, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted September 30, 2004 Our price never went down, unfortunately..... so I can't really tell you if it went through or not. The cruise was awesome though... we had excellent weather the entire time, and no rough seas!!

It is up to the cruise line, but if you book a cruise through a travel agent, all changes must be processed through that TA. Unfortunately, there are some unethical TA's who will not process price reductions because their commission is based on your final price.
ocngypz Posted September 30, 2004 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2004 It is up to the cruiseline. However, many lowered prices released within 45-15 days prior to departure are restricted fares, meaning they are for new bookings only. In other words, your booking would not qualify for the lower rate.
hajekfam Posted September 30, 2004 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2004 ocngypz - Do the fares on Celebrity's website reflect the restrictive fares? I always thought that they were the general fare and use that to see if fares go down or up.
