cruizinmimi Posted April 16, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2007 While on the cruise (Mariner of the Seas) is it possible to go to this beach? Is it a free beach or is it part of the Marriott? Islander, can you answer this one?
richtersl Posted April 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2007 All beaches on St. Thomas and St. John are free of charge except Magen's on St. Thomas and Trunk Bay on St. John. Also, all beaches are open to the public, including resort beaches. :D The catch to the latter is that the pool areas are reserved for hotel guests only but some hotels do make an exception. The Emerald Best Western is one I can think of right off the bat that has made an exception for cruise ship passengers. Morningstar is not for from Havensight. If that's where your ship is docking, then it's only a 5-10 minute cab ride from there.
cruizinmimi Posted April 16, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted April 16, 2007 Thank you Linda for your response. I thought the beaches were free, but I've never been to that beach front at the Marriott, and it looks beautiful. Yes, we will be docked in Havensight. We've been to Secret Harbour a couple of times, and they let us eat at the restaurant and use their bathroom facilities. Spent a day there and enjoyed the beach and plus we had a place to eat. Thanks again, we will try the Morning Star next month:D Linda
richtersl Posted April 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2007 When we stayed at the Marriott a few years ago, Morningstar Beach had a nice little beach bar called "Coco Joe's". The beach itself was pleasant and never crowded. If you just want to sit out in the sun and relax, it's perfect! If you expect to snorkel, then there are other beaches on the island better suited for that. You won't see the clear calm water that you did at Secret Harbour. Morningstar has small waves about 1 foot high. There are pictures here: http://lrichters.smugmug.com/Travel/162954
