KentuckyTraveler Posted April 24, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2007 Has anyone stayed there? If so, do you have any suggestions on transportation to the hotel from the airport and to the cruise terminal? Thanks
eenybeeny Posted May 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2007 Hi KT We stayed one night at the hotel on the way to a Grand Princess cruise a few years ago. The hotel was quite pleasant with a cute little breakfast room. It's in a good position for Piazzala Roma, where the buses and taxis terminate. As you know, hotels in Venice are not the easiest to get to. The good news is that the airport bus from Marco Polo goes straight into PR so it's very handy. The hotel is about 50yds from the square IN A STRAIGHT LINE. In Venice this means that you have at least 2 smallish bridges to get your luggage over before you collapse into the hotel. A taxi from the Square is the best way to the ship. They should drop you right by the area where the cruise people are taking the luggage. You may be able to see the top of the ship from the hotel. I presume you are leaving from the main cruise terminal? Hope this is some help to you. Have a wonderful cruise Ian

Member Posted May 26, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2007 Ian is right on..... you can see clearly the "Olimpia" sign from the bus station, yet it takes a bit of climbing and walking to it. But then this is what the majority does around Venice. The 3-storey hotel had two complexes when we stayed there 3 years ago. The main one has elevator to the upper floors, reception and breakfast area while the other one across the courtyard has bigger room on two floors. We're considering to stay one night there this mid-September but the rate is double what we paid before. Who are you dealing with?

We booked the hotel directly on their website in January www.hotel-olimpia.com . In March/April I reconfirmed on the website, noticed a substantial reduction, and reconfirmed at the lower rate. The big selling point for use as the location to the port, the free breakfast, and the ability to support a family of four. We will be staying there in about 20 days! Time sure moves fast!
