onboard charges on celebrity ? billing ?

we just got off infinity on sunday ,

and some friends of ours were on the same cruise as well,

this question is for them

they said that their total bill was 5300,,ouch i know , its alot..

but that today their debit card was charged 3200,,only

does celebrity only charge 1/2 at a time, then 1/2 another time

i thought for your final bill they would do it all at once, ???

she even called her bank and they stated there was no limit or anything so they could have gotten the full amount and it was preauthorized, so shes a little confused, i told her to wait a few days and see what happens

does this normally happen with celebrity ?

i always remember on all of our cruises weve been on the final bill is charged usually the day after we get off the ship.. or 1 time that same day ... and its always been the full amount not half or anything ,that seemed weird to me .

so we will see what happens

we didnt even get charged yet for our 3400 bill.. but i know they will soon

Is there any chance they had a cash advance on the ship? We just came off a Princess cruise and both my husband and I and the couple we sailed with had to take cash advances. (Because Princess ships for whatever reason aren't equipped with ATM's.) Anyway, we were billed separately for the cash advance and the ship charges with a few days in between each bill.

Just wondering why you had to take a cash advance. I don't know about Princess, but on RCCL and X if you get money from the casino, it's not considered a cash advance and goes on your SeaPass as a normal purchase.

That avoids extra charges on your credit card.

I didn't even consider that option, quite frankly. When we've sailed in the past with both X and Carnival they've had ATM's onboard so it's never been a problem. I'd say "thanks" and I'll rember that next time but it's unlikely we'll ever sail with Princess again unless it's a killer deal.

Melissa,

I've had sort of the experience you descrived, though not to that extent. In most cases there will be a small charge that will come through on my card a few days after the main charge. I'm wondering if they did this because it was a debit card that was used instead of a credit card.

that could be it , but you would think they would want the whole amount ..

we'll see ,

they havent even charged me yet, ive never had a cruiseline take sooo long..

Melissa,

I haven't been charged yet either. But I see that while the charges aren't appearing yet, there is a decrease on the available credit on that card which would indicate it's being "held". Whatever.
