A few non-bed ?? for those just off the Mercury

I have never sailed on the Mercury (or X) and am getting so many different answers (especially regarding dress) that I was hoping some of you just off the Mercury would be so kind as to fill me in on a few things -

Someone mention new menus - does anyone have a copy of those? Any not to be missed foods?

How were the shows? Any we should skip or not miss?

How smokey was the ship? Is there a place on board a non-smoker could be assured of NO smoke - a nice place to sit and relax?

Did you see any type of enforcement on "proper" attire? I am mostly asking about the semi-formal nights - did you ever see people turned away from the theater, dinning rooms or casino because they did not have on a jacket and tie?

What was the % of people in FORMAL wear on formal night and in SEMI-FORMAL on those nights? Was this the same % in the dinningroom as well as the other venues?

How was the Casino? Did you make any money and were there any machines that paid better (Hot) than others? (Email me that privately! JK)

Anyone play trivia - send me the answers! - JK - Once someone really asked for that!! Cracked me up:D

Thanks for your answers!

Autumn

The answer to the question about which country has the most cattle is...

INDIA! You're on your own for the rest.

I also highly recommend playing the Pictionary- and TriBond-type games. Pictionary was a blast on the day we had a big group of diverse people.

Nope, it was a very early sitcom (1947) = Mary Kay and Johnny - ran for 3 years. I never saw it, but it's for real. Wondering if, on the ship, they went for Lucy and Desi (who had twin beds) or Wilma and Fred who had one, but weren't exactly 'humans'... :)

Yikes, Mary Kay and Johnny?! Before my time and before our tv!! Don't always know which answer they go with on a cruise ship.

It sometimes causes a problem when someone swears they know an answer to be correct.

I also love Pictionary, TriBond, Taboo, etc. A great way to met new friends on a cruise!!:D

Autumn,

There was a group of four ladies on one of our HAL cruises that had notebooks filled with past trivia questions/answers from all of their cruises. (I guess they were very frequent cruisers) They didn't like to lose:eek: and would do almost anything to get an edge. We showed up one day and joined with another couple and beat the "Sure thing Ladies" and WOW did we get the "MADDOG" evil eye! The Cruise Staff member was elated that someone new beat these women.

Kind of sad really!

Enjoy!

Greetings fellow trivia and game fans! I got hooked on these fun activities two years ago on Galaxy, played last summer on Jewel and again on Mercury in Jan. The most fun I had was winning Starstruck-the Celebrity Game Show featuring music and movies of your generation. What a hoot!

I also have my certificate entitling me to one year of bragging rights in the Battle of the Sexes. It will expire just after I board the Merc. again next Jan for Aust/NZ. Gotta keep the streak alive! :)

Really, I am not as rabid as the ladies you spoke of.

6/06 Jewel Brit. Isles/Nor. Fjords + 3 days in London

1/07 Mercury Mexican Riviera

1/08 Mercury Aust/NZ
