Non-Formal Night

Metalleg

Recommended Posts

There is nothing that states jeans can not be worn in the dining room.

Only shorts and bathing suits can not be worn

The attire site on Carnival says Country Club casual on nonformal nights....

Please let me know what country club would allow me in wearing jeans.....LOL:confused:

Looks like someone from another board came over here to raise a little ruckus! :D

Quite the contrary. The majority of the OP's posts are on Carnival, Floataway or his rollcall whereas yours seem to be on NCL and Cunard. Slumming?

Now as to jeans on casual nights. I've seen them but they were far from the majority. I think I saw two people in them on my last cruise. Most of the gentlemen will be in slacks. That's what the requirement says. Whether they will enforce it or not is something you may or may not have to deal with when you make your choice of what to wear.

And as lynyrd said, we've had several threads on what to wear to the dining room on both casual and formal nights in the last three days. Maybe as many as ten. If you look back they will provide you with more information and could have saved you from having to post another thread.

To live clothing free or die !!!! At least that's what it says on the license plates from the People's Republic of Vermont.

I believe it is actually the People's Republic of New Hampshire that has this plate... Vermont's is "Go to Vermont, Marry Who You Want"

I think that anyone who worrys or even cares what STRANGERS are wearing on their vacation has too much time on his or her hands.;)

LOL I totally agree.

So does this mean they only put cruise critic fashion police at the tables by the door? :p

gotta keep the busybodies, busy.

Well, I live in NM and it's NOT uncommon here! Jeans, dirty cowboy boots, & braided hair half way down men's backs. Guess it's the culture? I'd bet there are places in TX that it's acceptable, too. Personally, my DS & DH won't be wearing jeans, but to say Country Club Casual is REALLY vague. Each to his/her own!

I never intended to, or wanted to cause an uproar.

I simply had a question and asked it.

My 16y/o son wears jeans almost exclusively, just the way he is.

My wife was about to leave to go shopping and I needed to know if we needed to get him some pants that he will not probably wear again. I knew I could get an answer quickly.

I am not coming from another board. We are first time cruisers and are booked on the Triumph in June. I thought this was the place to learn and maybe make some new acquaintances.

Evidently, you need to have 15 cruises under your belt and have nothing better to do than hang out here and tell people how wrong they are for asking a question…

Oh yea, and cruise nothing but carnival.

Get him the slacks. At 16 he's way beyond old enough to wear them to the dining room. The dress requirements apply to children as well as adults and the teen girls will find him quite the young gentleman. ;)

I wore hair half way down my back over 30 years ago...I have cowboy boots and wear jeans......and still wear a diamond stud in my ear........

What is the name of the Country Club where this attire is worn in NM ?

I wear jeans often with my boots...but not to a sit down dinner on a cruiseline that "says"....Country Club casual.....or formal.....

The rule is not vague...only to those that want to read it that way make it vague..........

If it said for a woman a "dress" is the expected attire....does that mean "skirts"...? Blue jeans are not slacks and skirts are not dresses....

CC casual.....Shirts and "SLACKS"...slacks are "Not" blue jeans. I just miss why this for some folks is to hard to understand.

You are right...to each their own......

Oh...by the way....I really don't give a flip what anyone wears....it just is people try to say the rule isn't clear....all they have to do is comprehend what they read......;)

Your right about that. NH Live Free or Die! Gotta love it! But, watch what you say about us Vermonters. :D By the way...Don't you just love the Adirondacks! We kayak the Hudson quite often in the summer. Up by North Creek.

My husband wore jeans and a nice shirt to dinner every night and he looked fabulous along with other people. I called carnival and the vacation specialist said the jeans are allowed in the dining room. You just can't wear bathing suits, shorts, and tank tops even thought I saw a lady with a tank top on in front of me and she was greeted as she entered in the dining room, and I saw a couple of people with shorts.

I don't think anyone was accusing you of visiting from another board--there are a few Cunard cruisers visiting the Carnival board this evening trying to stir the pot. On the Cunard board they're referring to Carnival cruisers as "unwashed and be-jeaned."

There's nothing wrong with asking questions, and most people will answer the same question again and again and be very nice about it. Enjoy your first cruise...where you'll find that most of your fellow cruisers will be very nice and friendly. :D

Oh, and some of us cruise Princess, too (or, at least we did once!). :D

Cheers!

But can all those fat old lardasses on the QM2 fit into those tubs, or do they have to call Stewart to pry them out each evening before getting into their penquin costumes?

Who's Stewart? The steward? What if his/her name isn't Stewart? Are you then stuck in there for days? And what brought penguins into this discussion? They fit beautifully into a bath. They're so sleek not a sticker in the bunch.

They think the highlight of the day is "Afternoon Tea"........:D :p

No wonder they are so bored. They only talk to the same tight @zzez over on the "Cunard" boards..... ;)

Thanks most everyone for your help, it is appreciated.

Lynyrd,

Thanks for your help I really needed that information. I don't know what I would have done if you didn't take the time to not answer the question, and instead relay that important info my way

You'll find that respect is like sex--some get it, some don't. ;)

Youre going to fit just right here on the Carnival Board. We have fun here.:D People tend to forget that although a question is asked 3 for 4 times a day, its asked by new members that do not know at first how to do a search for questions.

One's definition of a gentleman is hardly dependant on how many Carnival cruises he's been on, now is it?

No it is not but being, it looks like he has never been on a Carnival Caribbean cruise, he has no clue how people dress in the dining room so should not insist that a jacket on non formal nights is proper.
