CoCoView Resort @ Roatan -- Mandatory DM fee to shore dive???

I was very interested in spending the day at CoCoView and doing shore diving (which we've done tons of). Then I got the info back in their email --

 

"Dive Master Fee: $25.00. Dive master is required if you have not dove our shores before."

 

Do they REALLY charge this? It is just a 'fee' or a 'mandatory' dive or what?

 

Thanks for any info -- trying to work out our plans for our cruise in a couple of weeks :)

We went to Cocoview resort back in 2005. We were not diving just snorkeling. So the rules may be different. They charged us $5.00/ person to snorkel.

 

Here are some photos of our snorkeling. The pictures of course don't do any justice for how amazing this place is. This is the best snorkeling I have ever done.
