cruiseapril Posted May 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2007 We spent April 26 at Half Moon Cay- formerly known as Little San Salvador- in the Bahamas. We had great fun swimming for hours in the clean, clear water with firm sandy bottom. Some mid sized angel fish were the only fish we saw while swimming. Someone was feeding them cookie crumbs! After swimming and sunning for quite awhile, we ate the BBQ lunch, and later headed out for our Eco Lagoon Tour which was very good. About a dozen people were in the glass bottom boat- we saw all kinds of sea life-sea cucumbers, sea spines, big sponges, a big starfish, and lots of fish at a coral reef. The lagoon is beautiful- the water a light shade of green. We have been to Princess Cays and CocoCay- our favorite is still CocoCay, but Half Moon Cay is a beautiful, clean beach area. cruiseapril Posted May 7, 2007 Author #2 Share Posted May 7, 2007 I just want to add that safety is so important while swimming and snorkeling in unfamiliar places. At Half Moon Cay, or any other swim place, we feel it is best to always have a swim buddy. Also, hopefully people follow the rule of not swimming right after eating. We always wait a half hour. It is also important for people to know what types of stinging sea life are in the unfamiliar areas. And of course,we need to now about undertow. It's a good thing to ask the cruise staff about these things, don't you agree?
