Tomterr Posted August 11, 2004 #28 Share Posted August 11, 2004 Going On Voyager of the Seas Friday out of Bayonne NJ and bound for the Caribbean. Anyone have any thoughts of where they might change the itinerary to? Should I pack for warm (tropics) and cold (Newfoundland)? :)
yarlenna Posted August 11, 2004 #29 Share Posted August 11, 2004 We were on Adventure of the Seas last year October and went through a tropical depression on the way to St. Maartin. A little uncomfortable but we did not change course. I certainly would like to think that changing course is a better option. Good luck ;) If a storm is covering a large area at or near your embarkation/debarkation port - or in one of the main traffic areas that ships use to get in or out of the Caribbean, you will feel some motion of the ocean. They will do their best to avoid the worst of it, but sometimes it can be like being in the far end of your mixing bowl with the beaters going full blast. You may be as far as you can get from the worst of it, but still in rough seas. Do remember that some of these storms can be hundreds of miles in diameter. Yes they WILL take the ships out of the projected path of the eye of the storm. The surrounding winds and rough seas may not be as easy to avoid. zinman Posted September 9, 2004 #30 Share Posted September 9, 2004 Just got off the Navigator on Monday - 9 days instead of 7 days thanks to Frances. Royal Caribbean did an AWESOME job the entire week. Let me know if you have any specific questions. We were in th eEastern Caribbean the entire time and never ran into bad weather or rough seas. The captain did a geat job keeping us away from Frances.
