Gulf of Alaska - North/South and Cabin Selection

Depending on the fares released next week, we will either do the 14 day Tahitian Princess or B2B Gulf of Alaska from Vancouver on the Coral.

If B2B, the best would be to have a cabin on the starboard side going northbound and port side going southbound. Since we have never sailed a B2B before, can anyone tell me how you would move from one cabin to another? I've heard they have a rack to move your clothes and that you still have to get off the ship and back on to get a new seacard/pass?

Or, if you were to have the same cabin for both north and south, when would it be better to be on starboard vs. port e.g. starboard north/port south? or port north/starboard south?

Thanks in advance for your help.
