Beth & Rob Posted May 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2007 Our Brilliance cruise lands us in Venice from Monday 10/29@ 1PM and we depart on Tuesday 10/30 at 5PM So we will be there overnight. Suggestions of what to do and see? Any private tours that you can recommend? I was in Venice in 1978 just for one day, don't remember much. Thanks

Thanks You don't need a private tour in Venice...just get out and walk all over, take the vaporetto up the Grand Canal, walk over the bridges and see the nooks and crannies, have dinner at a plce you amy see along the way that night, have a great pizza for luncheon, loads of stuff to see and do.I didn't mention the big s ights as that is a no brainer.Enjoy..take map. lambs2 Posted May 13, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2007 You can prebook a visit to the Basilica San Marco. It is free. Here is the link: http://www.basilicasanmarco.it/eng/visite/visite_guidate.bsm?cat=6&subcat=4 You can also prebook the Secret Intineraries Tour of the Doges Palace. Well worth it! We had our hotel do this for us (just ask them and no charge until you get to Venice), or you can book through this link: http://www.teleart.org/itinerarisegreti/week.php?cal=english2006&getdate=20070505 We will be arriving in venice this coming Friday. VERY excited! Good luck with all your planning!

agabbymama Posted May 16, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 16, 2007 This is a pretty good site. I believe the hotels in Croce (sp?) are within walking distance of the pier, but with luggage they still recommend a taxi. They have a pretty good map that shows the hotels location. Have a great time! Venice is lovely, if you haven't been before, be prepared to be sad. Everything is so lovely, and to see it slowly sinking and disintegrating was just so sad to me. I hope they can save it somehow.
