lmuhleman Posted May 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2007 We are leaving from new orleans in august and want to buy a bottle or two of wine and 12 pk of beer before getting on the ship. Is there any store close to the pier?
jgmpuma Posted May 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 15, 2007 There is a convenience store at the corner of Julia Street and Convention Center Boulevard, just across CVB from the terminal. Or you can walk to Canal Street and turn left (away from the river). There are some larger stores along there.
lmuhleman Posted May 16, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted May 16, 2007 thanks for the information. we are staying at the embassy suites the night before the cruise (group of 10) We were thinking of taking the cresent city nite tour from gray lines to the restaurant tujagues, then to maison bourbon and cafe du monde. do you know anything about the restaurant? jgmpuma Posted May 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 17, 2007 Tujague's is OK, but they have a very limited menu, and I think you could do better. There is a place called Tommy's Cuisine within easy walking distance of Embassy Suites: http://www.tommyscuisine.com Another place we like a lot is Muriel's, at Jackson Square: http://www.muriels.com Either would be a good choice (and there are lots of other). If you are going to be in NO the day before the cruise, there is an A&P grocery at 700 Royal Street with better soda and wine prices and selections than the convenience stores.
