CrusinAgain Posted May 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2007 We have a cabin booked on the Pearl for November, however since we like to cruise twice a year we booked an oceanview. We have always wanted to try an aft balcony but don't want to spend a few hundred each extra since that takes out of our cruising funds availability. What are others thoughts and opinions on how much is the limit for an aft cabin if you want to cruise more and spend less for a cabin. We just figure for the Southern Caribbean there isn't much to see like it would be for Alaska where an aft cabin would definitely be called for. Right now our cabin with all fees and taxes costs us $92 each a day which we thought was terrific since our goal is no more than $100 each per day. 98Charlie Posted May 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2007 We booked an aft balcony for our Alaska cruise on the Star last year and enjoyed the balcony very much due to the itinerary and the fact that we had sun and no wind on our balcony the entire trip. DH actually got a sun tan sitting out there sans shirt and shoes as we cruised away from the glaciers. However we have both agreed that an aft balcony is not in our picture for other cruises yet as we want to cruise more often and not spend as much on each cruise. We actually have insides booked for our upcoming Star to Mex. Riviera and Spirit to Western Caribbean. Insides work well for us on Caribbean cruises as we like to be out with the passengers and be up on deck on those itineraries. Don't even need an ocean view on those cruises. CrusinAgain Posted May 18, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted May 18, 2007 Thanks so much Dianne for your input. I'm glad you have tried both and reconfirm how we were thinking. Would rather save the money for the two cruises a year and the aft for the constant scenery itineraries. And that fact that I read it does get hot on the aft balconies would not be as good for the Caribbean as it would for Alaska where some warmth would be welcomed.
