Brooklyn cruise termianl to Manhattan

We are crusing on the crown princess on 9/6/07 out of the brooklyn cruise terminal. My question is when we return, we are staying an extra night at the Waldorf Astoria, and we wanted to know if anyone had some ideas on ground transpotation. We are doing it on our own, not with the cruise line. car, taxi, rail...ect...... Thanks
