Getting around Piraeus Port

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know if either of these are options for getting to the Metro Statio vs a Taxi from the dock?. I understand the walk is about a mile.

Quotes I found but no details:

Free shuttle buses inside the Port run from across the Metro Line 1 Terminal Station, around the north side of the port to the ships sailing for Crete, the Eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.

The number 843 bus ran from dock to station every 15 mins

We were in Athens a last week on a cruise. You won't need to use a taxi unless you want to book a private tour. There are free shuttle buses that will take you to the Metro Station. The Metro costs .80 Euros (one way) to take you right into Athens near the Acropolis. We had a private tour already set up and didn't use the Metro, but we talked to folks who had and they said it was very easy and quick to get around the city using the Metro lines.

Don't count on having a shuttle bus to the Piraeus Metro station provided (free or otherwise) - this depends on the cruise line.

Some provide them free, some provide them and you can charge them to your onboard account, and some, like HAL, do not in many ports where they are provided by other lines because they (IMHO) do everything they can to discourage and make it difficult for passengers to DIY in ports so you will book their heavily marked up shorexes.

At Piraeus, the port provides a free shuttle to the cruise terminal if your ship is docked some distance from it, but that's all you can count on.
