Sounds like a good deal at the Hampton Inns. You can't beat free parking and a free ride too. Plus the hotels are nice and you get breakfast included in the rate. I wish we were close enough to drive, but that isn't going to happen until I'm retired.

I'm heading out on Liberty September 23rd. Just wondering how early I can, or should be at Port Canaveral. We are staying on the beach the night before (well, not on the beach, but rather in a hotel on the beach!), and we are all of about five minutes from the terminal.

How have the lines and waits been for embarkation lately? If I get there too early will they really turn us away, or is there somewhere to wait?

1. What did you do for excursions & did you enjoy?

costa maya we just shopped by the ports and used the pool in the port area.... have some beach chairs to lay out

costa rica we did the Adventure Canals, Rainforest & Banana Plantation.... great boat ride see alot of monkeys and birds great tour.... the banana plantation was just a walk thur no big deal

panama we did the Panama Canal Tour great long tour but saw alot..... it rained when we board the ship to the canal... carnival did offer a full refund if a guest did not want to go but we went we were prepared with rain coats (highly recommend)..... if you want to shop costa maya is the only port to shop and if u take the panama trip there is no time to shop

2. Did you bring back any menus & capers that you can share?

i forget to pack them when we left the ship but the food was okay..... this was our 8th cruise..... and we found the meat to be hard to eat or even cut..... the last night we had dinner from harry's served in the main dining room because we said something to the Matre d

3. Positives & negatives about the cruise?

just have fun.... todd the cruise director was great.... he mad e my family the stars of the week with different games we took part in

only negative thing was to short.... panama stop should be longer more time to shop

4. Dining experiences?

rey the head waiter was great.... great service.... only problem was the nights with meat was tough... but this was not a big deal did not ruin the trip.... new menus were great ...side selection was great shimp cocktail every night wow

5. Tips on how to get the most from the cruise.

relax enjoy yourself, take part in all the activities lot of space to relax

6. Did you arrive day before sailing &, if so, where did you stay & would you recommend it?

arrive the day of the trip... arrived at the pier at 9:45am was able to enter the pier building check in and plenty of seat to seat in and was on boat with a drink in my hand by 11:15am

7. Will you be writing a review?

will try to get one down

Port canveral??? Carnival Liberty leaves from Port Everglades.

We will arrive about 10:30 - 11:am (expect to wait some as security sometimes dont open til about 11- 11:30 depending on when the last cruise got all its people off. We are usually onboard by noon. Cant get to your cabin until 1:30.

Yes-- if you get there too early you will not be able to gain access into the area to get to the terminal. So stay away until at least 10:30

liberty is testing a new way of getting off the ship when your cruise is over..... no more color tag calling but numbers (zones) .... the last night u get tags number from 1-34 and the call zones .... numbers 1-4 are for people who need help getting off wheelchairs, taking a shore excursion early flights and vip..... but if you do self assist you get off the ship before the start calling zones..... so if u have an early flight you should do self assist and not wait until the call ur zone .... we did this when we were on the liberty two weeks ago

just a heads up for future cruisers on the liberty

Yikes! I just checked and our flight is leaving FLL at 10:50 a.m. We will be doing self-assist for sure. Nice to know they get you off first. As long as we're off the ship by 9:00 or so, we should be OK. We're leaving home on Friday for the 6-day Liberty cruise on 8/26.

There are big differences for coming home Saturday comparing to coming hom eon Sunday. The Carnival Liberty is debarking with only one other ship Celebration.

On SUndays the Liberty can debark with 6 other ships.

Check what ship is in port with you by using www.cruisecal.com and click on main calender. If you are scheduled with 6 other ships... you want to get a later flight if possible. The airport security lines will be massive

I have a couple of questions. First, is there another party boat in San Juan besides the La Rumba? We went on the Destiny out of San Juan in January and saw the La Rumba so I looked it up online and it said they are only open Thursday-Sunday and when we go this coming January we'll be there in San Juan on a Monday. Second, anyone have any suggestions as to what to do in St. Thomas? My husband and I got married there this year and didn't get a chance to see much of the island. When we go this coming January we'll be there on our 1 year anniversary and we want it to be special. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!:)

just back from Carnival Liberty... here's my review and if I can answer any questions I will

Review of Carnival Liberty 8/26/2007

Jay and I spent Saturday night at the Hampton Inn North in Fort Lauderdale, which made the trip from Ocala worth the drive. Not only was the room reasonable, but you got free breakfast, and we were able to leave our car there, and they shuttled you both to the pier, and picked you up upon return.

Embarkation.. Sunday. Arrived at the pier about 10:30, and naturally all we had was carry on’s and they confiscated my Captain Morgan’s. They didn’t find the smaller bottles, and you can take all the wine you wanted, but they even wanted to know what was in my cup. (Pepsi), but they questioned it. On the ship by noon, and was able to take many nice photo’s before it became crowded. Lunch on Lido deck and to our room by 1:30. The room was decorated with an anniversary package, and a set of key chains.

Captain: Marco Nogara and Cruise Director: Todd Wittmer. Lifeboat drill at 4pm, Show was The Welcome aboard Show. 10:30 pm. Nothing special. Big screen Chicago and Earth, Wind, and Fire, Stranger than Fiction, and The Wizard of Oz.

Monday.. Key West. We walked to the cemetery of which was very interesting, then to the Lighthouse, Crabby Dick’s, Sloppy Joes and then back to the ship. Ship show. Comedian Ronnie Bullard and Juggler Victor Zuniga. 8:30 and 10:30. Seaside theatre Liberty live with dedications at 5pm, Movies were Wizard of Oz, Maltese Falcon, Pavarotti Concert and Talladega nights.

Tuesday was Sea Day and Formal night. Show was Wonderful World at 8:30 and 10:30. Formal cocktail party at 5pm and 7:15pm. Adult comedy Ronnie Bullard at midnight.

Wednesday was Grand Cayman. Jay fell while getting off the ship to the tenders. After shore excursion, spent the afternoon in the Infirmary. Lots of twisted muscles, but he’s fine. Made walking very hard, but we got through it. Decided to do the stingray swim and I’d recommend that to anyone. Great experience. After the swim, we spent about an hour at rum point relaxing in a hammock. Show was Guest Talent Show at 10:30. Mexican Buffet at midnight. This was also Mardi Gras. Movies were Happy Feet, Beyonce, Dream girls, and Casino Royale.

Thursday was Ocho Rios. We did the Plantation/Dunn’s River. Not run very well. Supposed to have left at 9:15. Didn’t leave till 10:00. Put us on one bus, then transferred us to a slightly larger bus. Spent a lot of time at the plantation, and also got to do a Camel Pet (not included, but a nice surprise). Then went shopping (not scheduled), then to the Falls. Arrived at the Falls at 1:30 and they gave us an hour. Didn’t have watches on, and it takes a lot longer to climb. Jay and I arrived back at the top at 3:10 and the ship was to leave at 3:30. The buses had already left, and the people there were nasty and rude. It cost us $20 to get a cab back to the pier, and there were still 2 ladies after us that didn’t make it back till 4pm. Shore excursion could have cared less, but after fighting with them, they gave us a $20 credit..

This was also the 2nd formal night. Show was Rock Down Broadway at 8:30 and 10:30. R rated comedy with Carl Faulkenberry at midnight. Movies were U2 in concert, Happy Feet, Johnny Cash, Dream Girls, Casino Royal and The Presige.

Friday was a day at sea. Show was Carl Faulkenberry and ventriloquist Jerry Goodspeed. One show only at 10:30. Chocolate buffet at noon. Movies were Todd’s afternoon show, Ray Charles, Maltese Falcon, The Prestige, and Nat King Cole.

Debarkation was a breeze.. Off the ship by 7:30, to the hotel by 8am and on the road by 9am.

We chose this cruise for the ports, and weren’t disappointed, except for Ocho Rios, which really wasn’t Carnival’s fault. This wasn’t one of our favorite cruises. The ship was huge and clean. The staff was average, not going above or beyond what was expected. We only saw our steward a few times, never got his name, and the night that Jay was hurt, we ordered in, and the steward seemed upset that he couldn’t clean the room. No towel animal the first or last night. The bed was no where near as comfortable as on the Elation. The food was tolerable at most in the dining room with most nights only half the room was filled. We had a table for 4, but the other couple never came. Dining staff was very attentive and made the night special. Attire rules weren’t followed as shorts were seen in the dining room on most nights. Not many people dress “formal”, but more like church dress. There were 800 kids on this cruise, and you saw every one of them. Rules weren’t followed for the pool and hot tubs either, and it just seemed like the entire focus was on taking pictures or selling the drinks.

Will we go back to Carnival?? Not so sure, or at least a better time of year.Maybe back with Elation, but not the Liberty.

All the public rooms are extremely cold. Wear warm clothes while in there!

You put the Captain Morgan in your carry on?

Thanks for the review, doesn't even sound like the cruise i was on just 1 month ago.

we were suprised when we found out how many kids were on board, we saw very few.

It was the first ship i have ever been on that i could actually walk around the ship without a sweater.

Everyone was commenting about how well they were enforcing the dining room dress code and the fact that everyone was actually formally dressed for formal night.

Just goes to show that the same Cruise with the same crew can be very different, week after week.

Hope you find a happy medium.
