Can someone tell me about the Deck Party? I'm a first time cruiser trying to learn all I can before I cruise!

what is you want to know about the deck party?

there is a deck party every cruise. it starts about 11:30pm and goes until 1:30am.

its a party with a mexican theme..mexican food is served. dancing, music,.

its usually a sea day- and an early port day the next morning

I just read that on the Glory out of Cape Canaveral, that you could pay $15. to have your luggage taken to the airport for you, from the ship. I am wondering if the Liberty offers that in FT.Lauderdale?

Kathy

No, they do not. (15.00 seems awful cheap too)

we had the service available on Royal from Miami= AA airlines only and it was for later in the day flights.

Hey girl. How was it? Did you leave anything for the rest of us?

You did go already, right?

I took Harrys on Wed night of an 8 day. Who can stay awake for 12:30? Not me. My DS7 was in Camp Carnival many nights while we were sleeping, we had to wake up and go get him after all their parties.. lol

Oh btw,

The cruise was fine= I did run into problems that left a bad taste.. but spending the week with the grandbaby was the best.

Does anyone have info about cabin 7208? It's the first cabin on the port side...

http://www.carnival.com/Deck_Plan.aspx?shipCode=LI

its a connecting cabin. it is also next door to the door to the public area. (not many people know that it is there--- but no problem if you are on the wrong side in the port-- just go out that door and go look at the other side)

People on that public deck can see into your balcony--

Does anyone know who is running the art auction aboard the Liberty? When I sailed on the Glory last year, the art auctions were being run by Carnival Cruise Lines. In the past, the auctions were run by Park West, who I prefered. I was told that Carnival was trying to start their own auctions and I was wondering if they got it off the ground and were on all the ships or not. I actually hope not.

Art Auction was still by Park West last week.

Thanks Serene56! That's actually the cabin my brother will be in on our family cruise. Guess no nude sunbathing for him this cruise!!!

Have you ever had a "private" balcony on any cruise in order to do that?

We are looking at booking on the Liberty for July 12 '08. I would like to go ahead and do it tonight. So after reading 48 pages of "How many formal nights?", "Can I bring my own alcohol?", "What do I do with the kids?", "What movies are playing?" and "I have cabin # whatever, is this a good room?"; I am ready to ask---

Is there any particular deck that you would not recommend? Whether for noise issues from live music, pool machinery, late night revelers, crowd control issues, too far to walk when drunk, not convenient to what's on the ship, not convenient for getting off the ship, etc- Any suggestions?

We are likely to book an inside guarantee because the website won't let you select your own cabin in this category as far as I can tell, but I do have some control over what deck I select.

In the last couple of years I have cruised RCCL, but I am really not familiar with deck situations on Carnival. I started copying/pasting notes from threads into a word doc for quick reference for when I do book, but I didn't get smart enough to start it until page33. I guess I know what I'll be doing later this afternoon:( .

Thanks in advance for your help!

You can book the inside cabin of your choice, booking a guarantee on a certain deck does not guarantee you will get that deck, you could be upgraded to a higher deck or cabin catagory.

The only deck you are guaranteed to not hear anything is deck 7, it is sandwiched between two cabin decks so you will not hear any noise from the Lido, casino or clubs.

!

with an inside gurantee your cabin could be anywhere on the ship. You do not get to pick a deck-- unless of course you book that cat-- (say a 4B which will not give you the inside on the riveria deck--- but could get you upgraded to a oceanview on the revieria deck.

all inside cabins are cat 4

oceanview are 6

balconies are 8's

with suites being 11 and 12

the letter denotes the deck with A being the lowest (riveria) (cheapest)

the higher you go the more you pay.

We have sailed sailed the liberty 3 times now. 2 times on deck 6 and once on deck 7. (for us there really wasnt a noise issue no matter where we were. (6443 which is right outside the elvator bank- very convenient.

out the door-- up a few flight for food. walk down one flight for the promanade deck-- go tto the front of the ship-- walk down to deck 3 and go see the shows.

booking a cabin close to the aft elevator is a good choice.

you will pay more to pick a set cabin then you would if you picked a gurantee. you wont know where your cabin is located until close to sailing

(we also had 7434 with the L shape room (hated it)

and 6456 which is over a lounge but we never herad anything fromthelounge anyways

After I started reading some of the responses, a Carnival PVP called and answered a lot of my questions. What I was trying to say when I wrote I have some control over the deck is that I can pick a category for the inside cabins and that will determine what deck we're on. We did not get a fabulous deal because I really wanted to have some say in where we are on the ship, but the PVP was very nice. Needless to say, we're booked for 7/12/08 in room 8286 and I have my fingers crossed for NO upgrades:) !

So now that we're booked, what will we do? Our 10 year old will not be spending all of his time in the kids club; we do a lot of activities as a family. On the RCCL Freedom we had access to a climbing wall, a surf/boogie board machine, a wet play area (H2O Zone) as well as a regular pool w/ jacuzzis, an arcade and a game room, and a 9-hole mini golf course. In trying to look at the ship on CCL website, specifics were not easily identified on what was on the ship, so I'm hoping some of you have first hand info on what we will do when we are not in port. I'm sure our DS will be entertained in the club some nights without us, but being an only he is used to running with the big dogs, so to speak.

We're very excited about cruising with Carnival, and from what everyone has written, I doubt we'll be disappointed!

8286 is a good choice-- above and below cabins and away fromthe public area but close enoought to use the stairs and elevators.

you took one of the higher decks so that is why it is more expensive. The higher you go the more you pay.

You can tell your agent to write on your booking that you will accept NO further upgrades.

kids camp for your child- is the 9-11 year old group-- which is the best of all. They will have a PJ Party one night- fee applies.

this age group can sign themselves in and out of the program. They have a scavenger hunt== they are not allowed to go about looking for items alone but as groups of 3-4 kids.

I will definitely tell the agent no upgrades! Thanks for letting me know that was a good pick! When we were looking online together, I felt like the PVP really wanted me to just pick a guarantee, but I guess I have control issues. We went deck by deck looking at what was available and deck 8 was the lowest that had a cabin in the middle of the ship above Promenade. We are very happy with what we have.

So as far as activities, it will either be the kids club or pool time with us? That's fine; we tend to find our own activities anyway. If you give us a deck of cards, we can occupy ourselves for hours!

the empress deck 7 would have given you what you were looking for also.

probably for cheaper. Agent wants you to take the guarantee coz some people get upgraded for free.

We had 6443 which was an awesome location- come off the elevator and there was the room- we decorated the door with Elmo stuff since the grand baby was staying... it was easy to find for her.

Now find a way to watch prices-- if the price comes down you want to request a refund.
