wework2play Posted May 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2007 Sorry, not exactly sure what Carnival calls the card- Seapass, funpass, something like that. Anyway, on our last cruise I took some lanyards I got at a department store, the cards wouldn't fit in the plastic sleeve, so I had to poke holes in them with a knife and clip them on. This didn't work well at times such as port days when they swipe the card as you leave. The card had to come off the clip and it was difficult to do so. Where is the best place to buy a lanyard? Do any of the plastic sleeves fit or should I take a hole punch with me? Some have said to go to Purser's desk for a punch, is this always true?? What does everyone else do with their card while roaming the ship? One last question, Will my two boys ages 7 and 9 have their own cards?

Wennfred Posted May 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2007 Hi, you can take your cards to the Pursers Deck for the hole punch. I beleive you can get a lanyard from the Casino. I keep my Sail & Sign card in my pocket. The problem with these lanyards are that they can snag on the stair hand rails and the last place you need it to snag is when you are jumping from the ship onto a tender, you can end up in the ocean. So becareful, don't let it swing too far away from your neck. Fred
DqALEX Posted May 26, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2007 Go to the casino first day and they will punch it and give you a lanyard for it. I do that every cruise. I have a lot of them saved up . I bring one from home now just incase they run out.
wework2play Posted May 26, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted May 26, 2007 Okay, I was told to go to the casino on our last cruise. It was Royal Caribbean, if that matters. The casino said they had no hole punch and no lanyards. Is it different for Carnival? And do any of you know if the kids will have their own cards? I know I've seen it on here somewhere, but I searched it and can't find it. Thanks!

Some have kids designs on them for the kids.
pugmommy Posted May 26, 2007 #8 Share Posted May 26, 2007 I bought ours at the Coach outlet store for $19 a piece. They were great and came in some really fun colors. They are a really nice soft leather and hung to just the right place. I have seen them on e-bay too if you are interested in them but don't live by a coach store. ~pugmommy

nothomeonacruise Posted May 26, 2007 #10 Share Posted May 26, 2007 We used the lanyards with the plastic sleeves attached. We all (4) carried one with both our fountain cards and pass cards in the sleeve. My dd never lost either card.
mintee Posted May 26, 2007 #11 Share Posted May 26, 2007 I just sailed on the Elation in May...went over to the casino the first day to get that lanyard and they did punch a hole in my sign and sail, but did not have any lanyards at all. They instructed me to either go to the gift shop or to get one for free, to apply for a credit card at one of the booths. SO not sure if this is a new thing or if they were just doing this on this sailing.... Brig
memphislonghorn Posted May 27, 2007 #12 Share Posted May 27, 2007 I wear my lanyard from work. It has a key ring on the end. I go to the pursers desk and they punch a hole in my S&S card for me. Put the card on the key ring, and I'm ready to go!

dan40 Posted May 27, 2007 #14 Share Posted May 27, 2007 On Carnival both the Purser and the casino have hole punches. Lanyards are available free if you join Ocean Players Club, for sale in the gift shop, here on CC, in Wally World [get the kind that the key ring detaches], as souvenirs in most ports, and on and on. (RCI gives you a sticker). You will step onto a tender in a comfortable fashion. Fred is just making a point.

Fergus Posted May 27, 2007 #18 Share Posted May 27, 2007 Look at nationalleash.com......they have several different styles. I think it's called a waterproof money holder. We got a couple of the smaller ones and a couple of the passport size. They are great!
caren Posted May 27, 2007 #19 Share Posted May 27, 2007 If you want to bring your own lanyard...Old Navy sells them as well as most sporting goods stores.
2Ports Posted May 27, 2007 #20 Share Posted May 27, 2007 one like they sell here at CC, because they clip apart. SO much easier when you leave or return to the ship. Plus, we find the wider strap more comfortable.
ADB Posted May 27, 2007 #21 Share Posted May 27, 2007 My 3 children got one from camp carnival on their first cruise, I use it when they are not with me on the cruise. It is a must for children, they seem to lose their card if it is not around their neck.
Copper Lanterns Posted May 27, 2007 #22 Share Posted May 27, 2007 First time with Carnival. Asked my TA if Carnival had the punches for my lanyard (Cruise Critic Lanyard-I love the detachable feature) She really didn't know. I knew someone here would have the answer. Thank you Cruise Critic!!! You have come through again---:D :D :D
