JGB Posted May 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I am curious who would not go on a cruise if alcohol were not served, or if there were not a casino. For myself I do not drink so no consideration there. I do gamble and although I have cruised and not gambled a penny I likely would not book a cruise if it were not an option. For example I would not book Disney for that reason. I would be interested in others thoughts. John
cruisinbuddy Posted May 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2007 Funny we don't really gamble. I take @ $50.00 for the casino, but if there were no bar, I ain't sailing. Now I wonder when I'll get a, you're an alcoholic, reply. If any one wants to, don't waste your energy typing.
DG2004 Posted May 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 29, 2007 Could I smuggle booze and dice aboard?
Peaceful Posted May 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I also probably would not book Disney because of the lack of a casino. I enjoy a drink when on vacation and certainly wine with dinner, so that might stop me, too. Adult beverages and the casino are just part of the whole fun package for me. Iggipolka Posted May 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I don't care at all about the casino, so I'd happily cruise without one. No alcohol..well, I don't drink that much in general, but I do like a glass of wine with dinner. No alcohol woudln't be a deal breaker for me, but I'd rather have the option to enjoy some if I want to.
Sandi149 Posted May 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 29, 2007 If the ship didn't serve alcohol...no I wouldn't go. Not that I'm a big drinker, but I do like to have a few. Gambling I could care less about. Hubby likes a little gambling but I doubt that he would not go on the ship because they didn't have a casino....we have gone on plenty of vacations where there was no gambling. Lucky Lady 2 Posted May 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted May 29, 2007 Don't drink and don't gamble but I'm still Lucky! ;) !! I only look at location, # of days and price when I cruise! :o !
MARRIEDATSEA Posted May 29, 2007 #8 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I would definately go on a cruise...we don't drink or gamble (well...I might drop twenty bucks in slots) so it's OK with me:)

ooulio Posted May 29, 2007 #10 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I wouldn't go again without a casino. Could do without the booze. My husbands like a few drinks though. We did Disney with no casino. To me it was boring after 9 o'clock. Saw a few shows and then it was bed time. I won the cruise. Otherwise, it wouldn't be my first choice. Too much money and too much kids running around. Not relaxing if you ask me. We had a big room so that was great. I like my casinos.
cuyahoga11 Posted May 29, 2007 #11 Share Posted May 29, 2007 Nope, would not book a cruise if I could not smoke, gamble or drink.
oscar's mom Posted May 29, 2007 #12 Share Posted May 29, 2007 Don't gamble but I like an occasional Foo-Foo drink:D
Moondawgie Posted May 29, 2007 #13 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I could live without both ... don't care if I drink or gamble at all. Yes, I'd book. I also booked Paradise when it was non-smoking and it was great. First casino without that smokey smell. The only things I couldn't live without are the wonderful meals and entertainment. alberta41 Posted May 29, 2007 #14 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I would probably not book a cruise that didn't have a casino or serve alcohol, while my husband and just drink an occasional glass of wine at home on a cruise we like to try those foo-foo drinks, also I'm not a gambler just play slots sometimes, but my husband likes to enter the black jack tournaments. I figure it's a vacation and if that's what makes him happy and relaxed go for it!!! Also our children are 20 and 18 so a Disney cruise doesn't sound like fun for us!!! virginiab Posted May 29, 2007 #16 Share Posted May 29, 2007 Well, I average about one drink per cruise, so that would not be a deal-breaker. Similarly, one roll of quarters is the most we gamble, and don't always get around to that, so no casino would not be a problem. What would be a problem for me would be the probable prices for such a cruise. We are always grateful to those who drink and gamble more than we do, becuase I think they keep the fares low for all of us!
DqALEX Posted May 29, 2007 #17 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I like the casino, I wouldn't care if the ship was dry, I would still cruise without both, just to relax
bonstersd Posted May 29, 2007 #18 Share Posted May 29, 2007 The reasons I go on so many cruises is to drink and gamble! Only 9 more days til I drink and gamble on the Elation!
msbr Posted May 29, 2007 #19 Share Posted May 29, 2007 Nope, I don't need either. Love the ocean, the boat, the pool, the time with hubby. May drop $20 in the slots and have wine w/ dinner but neither make nor break the cruise!
pugsy&porter Posted May 29, 2007 #20 Share Posted May 29, 2007 I married into one of those families of Disney lovers (you know, let's buy a house in Orlando because we go to Disney so often, etc.) and every vacation involves going to see the Rat. However, with that being said, I absolutely refuse to spend money on a Disney cruise simply because of no casino. I am sure at some point, the old lady will drop the hammer and make me, but let me assure you, it will be one of those three day cruises; no longer. jean212 Posted May 29, 2007 #21 Share Posted May 29, 2007 We definately would book a cruise if they didn't have booze or gambling. We traveled twice on a non-smoking ship. No booze, no gambling would be different.
Guest Crazeecat5 Posted May 29, 2007 #22 Share Posted May 29, 2007 DH and I don't drink so we wouldn't miss it on a cruise. However, if there were no casino.....booorring! Just love the sound of those slot machines. Hark, I hear them calling me now......cruising on the Miracle on 6/20. Sheryl

henepup Posted May 29, 2007 #24 Share Posted May 29, 2007 That (gambling) is one of the reasons we haven't cruise to Hawaii. I could do with out the drinking....but not hubby. He would go nuts not having a beer here and there. Angie
mueller74us Posted May 29, 2007 #25 Share Posted May 29, 2007 Could probably go without drinking and gambling...but you bet your sweet tush....the second I set foot on a dry, gambling free ship I would want to do both!! Jennifer
