MamaParrotHead Posted May 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2007 LOL. Considering a cruise on the Carnival Freedom in the next year or two, with the kiddos (who will be 6 and 9 at the time). We're in port 5-12. Granted, most of the time bedtime is between 8 and 9, 10 if it's a "special occasion". LOL Is there ANYTHING to do besides bars, kayaking (they're a bit small to do that, especially in the dark), horseback riding (again, think they'll be too small for that) and the boring walking tour everyone hates. I imagine the shops are closed by this time? Are there even any horse and buggy rides we could do? Grasping at straws here, people, LOL. Thanks for any suggestions or input you may have.:)
imnance Posted May 31, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2007 You might try a horse and buggy. We didn't, but I saw them. The kids might like that and if they doze off, you don't have to carry them. We had a great tour guide while we were there. Hired him at the dock for 10.00 per person. He had an air conditoned bus. Actually, there were plenty of them. Most cost 20-30.00 per pax though. Oaktree Posted May 31, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2007 Buy a disposable camera for each. They can look for interesting things to photograph. Sign at Senor Frogs and Hard Rock, etc, ships and ferry in harbor, statutes, parks. Might get some history facts ahead of time and look for things Columbus might have seen.

You didnt say what time of year you are going.....that definately affects what to do as the sun stays up later in the summer ..... there is a neat little park across from El Morro that has water that shoots up from spouts in the ground.....different spouts = different times they shoot up..... that would be fun for them to photograph.... besides it is never too early to start kids into photography.....a good way to experience the world and capture memories. MamaParrotHead Posted May 31, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted May 31, 2007 When we go is dependant upon the rates for '09, when they come out. :) Kids will be 6 and 10.
caravellov Posted June 1, 2007 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2007 Do a google search for San Juan Duck tours. My kids enjoyed them in Boston and Philadelphia. Not sure what time the last tour would be.
Karysa Posted June 1, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 1, 2007 We did a tour a few years back called Nighttales of San Juan I think. They have a web site. You walk through old San Juan with flashlights and the tourguide Debbie had great access to closed Government offices and she told wonderful tales of what happened in Old San Juan many, many years ago. We thought that she was a great guide and it was a fun and informative tour.
