pakmount Posted May 31, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2007 I know there is a great packing list posted on this site somewhere, but I can't seem to locate it. If anyone has the link to it, that would really help me out. First time cruiser, and a packing list would really help! Thanks!!:)

mbmadeline Posted May 31, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2007 Could anyone kindly make specific suggestions for an Alaskan cruise packing.... will is be cold in August on the ship? Should I skip shorts and just pack slacks? Is there swimming on an Alaskan cruise? Would I ever need gloves or a hat in August? Don't laugh.... I have no idea. Specs Posted May 31, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2007 Hi mbmadeline! I went on an Alaskan cruise in July. For the most part, we had warm weather. However, when we went on excursions near or on a glacier, it got very cold. So, I would suggest planning layers when your packing. For example, on the glacier, I wore a winter ski jacket, pants with warm lining, waterproof hiking boots, gloves and a wool hairband. Once we left the glacier however, we got rid of the warm layer and we were fine in shorts. On deck, I was fine wearing a pair of capris and a light sweather against the chilly wind. But, since they served hot chocolate and had blankets available, it was easy to keep warm. As for swimming, generally, only children used the outdoor pool. But the indoor pool and spas were very popular, if I may say so. Have a wonderful (and warm) cruise!
