BigDogCruiser Posted June 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2007 Do you need to bring your passport off the ship or is the SS card enough to get back on. Your S&S card is sufficient, however I take my passport. I figure it can't hurt to carry it as long as I can keep it protected from the weather. I would definitely recommend that you have a photo ID when in port...just in case. Remember that in most cases you are in a foreign country, so I say be safe, not sorry.
Frank12 Posted June 5, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2007 Do not go ashore in a foriegn country without your passport. If something happens and you get left behind, you will be very glad you have it.
HeidiHo Posted June 5, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2007 You don't NEED Your passport while in port or to get back on the ship but I too don't like to leave the ship w/o it just in case something happens and I get left behind. Then I would be glad I had it. At the very least take a photo ID as well as your S&S card. Some ports DO ask for a photo ID.
alphakitty Posted June 5, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 5, 2007 There are two different schools of thought on this....some take their passport off ship (myself included) in case they get left behind and feel safest this way. Others are afraid their Passport will be lost or stolen off ship and take a copy of their passport ashore and leave the passport in their safe. The copy would be useful to get a replacement passport. It's a personal choice.
