Must-have's For 1st Time Cruisers???

We are taking our first cruise on the Rhapsody in September and have read postings that said we should bring such items as: night light, post-its, highlighters, alarm clock, etc. Are there any other "must have" items that we should bring? Also, is there anything that most folks bring that they should have left at home?

Bright flourescent duct tape...we brought bright yellow type and x'd our luggage with it and were able to find it amongst all that luggage in the warehouse after our cruise.

Also bring along a power strip to plug in the extra electrical stuff...cause there is only one plug in the cabin and that only holds 2 things. We had to plug in our alarm clock, digital camera charger, video camera charger, and nightlight into it and it helped alot.

plastic bags to put your bathing suits in for the trip home--so the rest of the stuff in your luggage doesn't get wet

8 x 10 envelope with study piece of cardboard--on our first cruise we purchased some onboard pictures and they ended up getting bent on the way home---the cardboard minimizes the chances of them getting all bent

small ziplock bags---we have used them for numerous things---when my kids were younger, we got cookies from room service to take into the ports and put them in the bags. Also my kids always fill a zip lock bag with sand from all the different places we have visited for vacation---they each have a collection of little bottles with sand in them

we have a miniature pair of binoculars we bring also

underwater cameras--they are unbelievably expensive if you buy them on the ship. Walmart has the Fuji ones for about $8--and the Kodak watersports cameras are a dollar more

if you're travelling with kids, buy a lanyard to put their seapass card on---the purser's desk will punch a hole in the card so they can wear it around their neck on the lanyard

we tied really bright pieces of ribbon around our luggage handles--makes it easier to identify your luggage when you get off the ship--everyone's luggage basically looks the same but this makes yours much easier to find
