"Sports Bar" (etc.)

Being a major sporting aficionado, I was just wondering if this is your typical set up with the wide screen t.v.(s)and the gamut of games on 'em.

If so, is there a guide somewhere to let me know what's on?

Also, I heard mention of some kinda' "horse race".

I'm assuming this is not the four legged variety.

Lastly, does the casino possibly have a sports book??

Much Obliged Folks!

The sports bars on most ships rely on whatever satellite feeds their company subscribes to. For the most part it seems that the selection is limited. To the best of my knowledge there is no guide to what might be available on any specific ship/itinerary.

The "horse race" is more of a ship activity than a sporting event.

No sports books on any ships that we've been on.

Hey, thanks Charlie!

Guess I was hoping for a little TOO much!

Ahh well, I'm sure the casino will be glad to have me contribute to their kitty!

Watching the game is weird. The ship only "buys" one satelitte package to be broadcast on the big TV in the sports bar. Other games may be on in your cabin but just b/c it's on TV doesn't mean it's being broadcast in the bar. I found that one out the hard way after missing my game b/c I was erroneously told that the big lounge was the only place to watch it -- even the ships crew didn't direct me back to my cabin. They just told me the game wasn't available.

You can tell you are watching satellite. It cuts out sometimes & often plays in a shakey, slowed format even when the broadcast is not doing a slow motion replay. Still it's better than nothing when you realize you are watching this from the middle of the ocean.

Bring your patience.

Depending on the port, you may be better off watching the game at a bar if you can find one.
