Back from Imagination

Recommended Posts

We cruised on the Imagination on 6/4/07 on the 5-day Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios. This was our 7th Carnival cruise and the first time since 2004 we had been on a Fantasy class vessel. I must say for the age the ships appearance was well kept we did have several problems. We are Carnival Vacation Club members. We had two o.v. cabins on the upper deck and in my sons cabin the air did not work. This was a nightmare as no one wanted to help us. We were told that the air could not be repaired until the ship returned back to Miami. The head purser told us there was four rooms open, but three of them would be occupied once the ship arrived into Grand Cayman. The purser did not want to move my son and his friend into the vaccant room until the ship arrived into George Town. They went three days without air and were moved into an interior room on the riviera deck. We were very disappointed to find out that Carnival would not give us an o.b.c due to the difference of the two rooms (upper ov to riviera int). We did receive two photo coupons from the pursers desk. Sadly this was not the last of our problems with them. We were give a $50 o.b.c from the CVC and it was never applied to our account until the last day of the cruise, and it was only applied because I called the CVC to tell them the pursers desk sad we had no credit. Even with all of our problems we had a great time and those problems would not keep us from sailing Carnival again. In fact we have booked the Miracle on 12/17 out of FLL. However, we will stay away from the Fantasy Class and older vessels in the future.

We sailed on the Imagination in December, and like you, we all had a great time. However, there was just something missing. The service was not as good as usual but still good. I would not go again either but could not point to anything specific. We will go on the newer ships too.

Sorry to hear about your problems but, glad you enjoyed the trip overall. Did you go to the shows, etc.? Just wondering how they were. We will be on this ship in just a few days--can't wait!

We did go to the shows..."Shout" was the only good show, and the first broadway show was exactly the samething we had on the Glory this past October ("Livin In America"). The comedians were ok...nothing to shout about. The CD Jorge was sick during this voyage so I really cant give an honest opinion on him.

Hopefully CCL will get all the problems corrected when the ship goes into dry dock later this year.

Hopefully the problems will get corrected before she goes to dry dock . . . we sail on her just before then!

I am a little (make that more than a little) nervous about sailing on an older ship. We were on the Liberty last year and I'm afraid we have been spoiled by the newer ships. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

I too was on the Imagination June 4. We had trouble with our A/C (suite 12)as well and so did my mother(she had a oceanview). We noticed water was dripping from the ceiling in the bathroom and on the edge of our bed. So we inform them and they were in our room within 10 minutes. It was the hot water pipe above us. It was just one of those things that happen and we enjoyed every minute of our cruise. The shows was great, food was good, casino....well it took my money, but I still loved it.
